Well, Brad is a professional con man. And, as a man who has made his living out of screwing over other people, he knows how to get people to believe him.

And his message (stick with me and the sky is the limit. Don't worry about the negativity) was way more appealing than mine (Brad is screwing you; cut your losses and call the cops on that creep). I was demanding that people acknowledge a major and expensive mistake; Brad was telling everyone that all was well. And doing it in a way that he had polished after decades of running scams.

I don't believe that down-home aw-schucks way he writes for a minute. I think it is intentionally a ploy to make him seem more relatable. Truth is, he's from a suburb. But he knows how to write to make himself look trustworthy.
