Unlike Christmas Eve, which was a shortened trading day, the markets will close after a full day on New Year's Eve, ending at 4 p.m. ET. However, equities traders nursing hangovers will be relieved to discover the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will both be closed on Jan. 1, 2019.
