Go (bye-bye) Elmhurst indeed. omg
My dad's mother, my dad and his sister, and all my cousins are graduates of Elmhurst High.
The story of the new owner resonates with me.

Hanson Aggregates Midwest LLC (“Hanson”) has concluded its purchase of the vacant Elmhurst High School building and associated property. The sale of the property required the acquisition of two parcels totaling almost twenty-eight acres: over fifteen acres on which the vacant school is located, and an adjacent twelve acre farm parcel.

The company began operations at the Ardmore Quarry in 1929. Located just south of the school property, it has mined sand, gravel and limestone there continuously for eighty-eight years.

If the Ardmore Quarry is the same as the Elmhurst Stone Quarry, my cousins (on my dad's side) and I sneaked over there during a family party many moons ago. It was forbidden territory. They lived on Shady Lane off North. During one of the big family reunions we decided to walk over there mostly to see if anyone would notice we were missing. It was a bit of a hike and it took us awhile to get there and back. Surprise. No one noticed (or cared) that we were gone. lol So much for that bid for attention. Guess the old folks didn't know how to helicopter parent way back then.

We also had the privilege of going to Hamburger Heaven.
I'm pleased that it's still there.

Elmhurst was a wonderful town.

BTW, where are the kids going to school now?
