It certainly was before his watch. Actually the decision was very sound. IDCC engineers elected to go with TDMA rather CDMA. As it turned out TDMA captured 80% of the Market, but Judge Lombardino and a jury took away the TDMA foundation patents. If IDCC had won against Motorola, the shareholders would all be wealthy beyond belief. The mistake the company made was underestimating how big the wireless market actually became. They won the foundation patent case in Germany, but opted not to continue litigation efforts outside the USA.
