Radial symmetry tracking algorithm. The ra-
dial symmetry tracking algorithm [11] localizes an im-
aged particle center by determining the point of maximal
radial symmetry in the image intensity. To implement
this algorithm, we use the Matlab function radialcenter.m
provided in Ref. [11].
Experimental setups. For the results that are shown
in Fig. 2, we use a standard optical tweezers system built
on a home-made microscope [1]. We use a dilute solution
of microspheres (silica, diameter 1.98 µm, Microparticles
GmbH) trapped with a laser beam (wavelength 532 nm,
power 2.5 mW at the sample)
