Ya BC and especially Vancouver has always been way ahead of the curve in MJ acceptance. There are over 100 dispensaries in the city of Vancouver that operate with City of Vancouver business license specifically for MJ. The city of course charges $30,000 a year for these business licenses. But once legalization comes into effect will the city still permit these dispensaries to operate until federally approved ones are up and running or will the city crack down on businesses they have given licenses to specifically to operate as dispensaries. It will be interesting to see how it is handled, my guess is the city will turn a blind eye as usual.

My friends own the only dispensary in Burnaby, BC. It is actually a church, it is called "Sanctuary of the Rastafarian Order".
The City of Burnaby has tried unsuccessfully to close them down, they are a religious organization so that's how they got around the MJ laws. They have a room that is exactly the same as any dispensary but also have another room for prayer (smoking weed). When they sell MJ it is given to a person for a pre-determined donation. Just like any dispensary. Lol
