Their stem cells not only gravitate to damaged brain areas, but also, if I recall rightly, to the spleen, where they shut down the cyto'storm response, which can do more damage than the stroke itself. It's the brainswelling that kills.

Given the frequency of TBI in such crucial settings as auto accidents/military, one might forsee CTSO filters in EMT vehicles one day. You can't cryo/preserve stem cells in an emergency vehicle.

I have been waiting forever for CTSO to address this brain-damage sector.
