Vague P/R Announcement. Now we have an unknown software firm doing Device Management for Geotraq. Technically, there are a number of Compliancy and Administrative specifications within the Telecom Industry that come into play. The P/R really isnt giving much info as to exactly what they are getting done via an outsourced arrangement.

Existing Cellular Networks do Device Management and things such as Network Authentication based on the devices broadcasting Device Data such as the Mobile Subscriber Number and the Hardware identification known as the IMEI. There are Subscriber Provisioning and Onboarding Steps each carrier performs and then this data is placed in a number of Huge Databases that each carrier maintains on a shared basis. Policy Control Systems are also in the Network that define things like your Data Plans. Then probably the more difficult systems are for Remote Management and Configuration that do things like an Over The Air "OTA" Update. This is the part, I dont see the Carriers letting these devices onto their networks without a Full Certification Testing. No carrier is going to let the possibility of devices becoming Rogue nor are they going to let a 3rd Party run certain systems from outside their Security Controls to manage devices. IMEI numbers are easy to obtain, as these get reserved from the Chip Manufacturers. It is the Mobile Subscriber Numbers that are far more difficult to obtain. A whole side industry has emerged on collecting and reselling old landline numbers and numbers such as payphone and Toll Free. Even at bulk pricing, Geotraq is looking at probably $3-5 Million or more to get say 1 Million Numbers. Plus recurring monthly payments.

In reality, this is where you have to cut a deal with one of the Carriers as then you get all the systems as part of your product. Attempting to build any of these has its own risks. Each of these systems as well as a few others all have established players that control these network elements within the industry.

At minimum, Geotraq has yet to register with the FCC and acquire the ability to operate Cellular Radios in a Licensed Spectrum.
