Life...what is life...what are our priorities...what catches our attention...what is our focus...in life. In this world...the United States in particular...folks live for all kinds of things...worldly things. Some folks believe life is about pleasure...parties...just having fun striving for happiness. Others folks seem to focus on the brass ring...their drive is climbing the corporate ladder...accumulating all the stuff they can...they want success and social status. Then some folks desire to be famous with power and prestige...and the only thing that matters is all the money they can stash away. Now listen folks....there is nothing necessarily wrong with any one of these...however...they are not to be...for a born-again believer...our driving force in life. And why is that? Scripture tells us that money is a root of all kinds of evils....it dont say money is evil...it says the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Why are we told that? And the things that i mentioned above...really do all go hand in hand with each other...because...for so many folks...those things become an idol in their life...yes..anything that we put above God is an idol...like it or not...remember...the 1st two of ten commandments addresses this. We are told to not store treasures here on earth but to store them in heaven...do we know what that means and why we are told that? You see folks...when this life is over...each of us will give an account to the Lord Jesus for our lives. Make no mistake...He wont be looking at our financial portfolio..the photos from our vacations or our job title. All the money...power and fame accumulated over the years will disappear and be forgotten the day we stand before Jesus. Those things that excite us now will be left behind tomorrow. Do you have treasures stored in heaven? So let me ask you...what are you pursuing today? Temporal or eternal treasure!
