I don't see the U.S. vilifying the oil industry as much as finding alternative sources of energy to compliment and eventually replace dwindling petro supplies. My electricity bill using solar panels is "0". Cost for solar panels lease is $81 per month. Our previous cost for electricity averaged $230 per month. We've gotten a property tax rebate to the tune of $1200 per year from NYC for 4 years and an income tax rebate of $5000 from New York State for the life of the lease (20 years at $81 per month). Additionally, since we're co- generating with Con Ed, we get a rebate of around $120 per year from them. I won't vilify oil and I do intend to lease an electric vehicle next time around and feed it energy produced by my house from the sun. Alternatives are good. Norwegians have their hook, I have mine.
