The connector that goes into the monitor is about an inch wide.

If the wired keyboard doesn't solve the problem, I will take the laptop and the cord that connects to the monitor to Best Buy and let them show me what I need.

I have all my files on the desktop backed up so I can just transfer them to my laptop. I use Mozy.
