Redwood City, CA – Ubiquitous Energy, the leader in transparent photovoltaics, today announced the appointment of Dr. Douglas Robello as Vice President of Materials Development. Dr. Robello, who brings three decades of experience researching and commercializing organic materials for electronics applications, will lead Ubiquitous Energy’s growing materials development team.

“We are thrilled to welcome Doug and are excited to have his experience in bringing new organic materials innovations to commercial success,” said CEO Miles Barr. “Doug has established himself as a world-class thought leader and manager over his career, including his 25 years at Kodak. He and his team will be instrumental in developing improved formulations of our ClearView Power transparent solar technology.”

Most recently, Dr. Robello was Director of R&D at Orthogonal, Inc., leading all aspects of the company’s materials development program. Prior to Orthogonal, Robello spent 25 years at Eastman Kodak developing materials based on organic chemistry for diverse applications, including OLEDs, holography, thin film transistors, and nonlinear optics.

Dr. Robello is a prolific inventor with more than 50 issued US patents and numerous international co-filings. Additionally, he has co-authored 38 peer-reviewed scientific articles, given more than 50 invited and contributed presentations, and served as an adjunct professor at University of Rochester and at Rochester Institute of Technology. Robello holds a PhD in organic and polymer chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
