My point still stands. If the claims had not been paid serious, perhaps critical, damage would have been done.

Whatever you say, it doesn't change that.

I'm sure, at the time, JB expected to take in enough new money to pay the claims and drill. When that much money didn't come in he had a hard decision to make. Clearly it was better for investors (all of them) to keep the company going with prospects based on the claims.

I didn't like what happened, but I don't see that any other outcome would have been better for me.
