Recently I've been able to add to my VNQ, WPC and NRO positions. It seems REITs are no longer darlings. I was able to add 12% to each of those positions. Effective yields are quite good right now compared to the 20 Year US Treasury rate of 2.88% (which has no inflation protection).
With good current income, secondary benefits of inflation hedging and rising general interest rates, adding to REIT positions via AIM's suggested buys seems a very good idea. These buys might be just the first stop on a long train ride. I have been holding cash for these for so long it seems almost painful in hindsight. Now, finally I'm getting to deploy some of it with reasonable hope of income and capital appreciation.
