Osage Bow Building , Primitive Arrow Making, & Flintknapping
The Bows, Arrows, and Flint Knapping classes are held every winter at Roots School in Central Vermont. During the course of the nine days students build their own Osage Orange self bow, learn to make and use stones to create tools and projectile points, and create beautiful and functional primitive arrows. Traditional tools are used alongside chert and flint scrapers, students work bone arrow heads with all stone tools, make pitch glue for hafting, and work sinew and wild turkey feathers for fletching. Truly one of my favorite classes to teach and film.
