That makes the recent decline in REITs even more peculiar. I'd love to build out my REIT positions with some AIM directed buys. These yields are good enough to justify ownership by themselves.
I've managed to trade REITs with AIM successfully for very long periods of time. It requires patience, however. Maybe a trade once in every 2-3 years. Long periods of boredom followed by short bursts of activity. In the mean time we collect nice dividends.
REITs and REIT ETFs might lend themselves to Sold Option harvesting gains. I've never attempted it on any of the REITs or REIT funds I've owned. It might be worth some study.
