$ETP Environmental groups sue the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in an attempt to block construction of Energy Transfer Partners' (ETP +1.1%) 162-mile Bayou Bridge pipeline project across southern Louisiana.

The federal lawsuit filed yesterday claims the Corps violated the Clean Water Act and other environmental laws when it approved a permit for the crude oil pipeline last month.

The Corps says it completed an environmental assessment for the project before issuing the permit on Dec. 14, while the lawsuit says the review was "plainly inadequate" as it asks the court to vacate the project's permit.
