Biotech said he wanted to highly leverage options to speculate further...I make a lot of money on selling options...for the reason you alluded...but the gain is limited immediately upon buying the option. The potential gain on a Call option is limitless...

...in short Biotech based his trade on a $6 price he anticipates in January...buying Call options deep in the money or slightly out meets his criteria for a "highly speculative" trade and gains anticipated... as he said "willing to lose his entire $20K to make 10x, IF he is correct.
