MUELLER ASKS JUSTICE DEPARTMENT TO HAND OVER DOCUMENTS ABOUT COMEY'S FIRING: REPORT

The special counsel investigating Moscow meddling in last year’s presidential election has requested a wide array of documents from the Justice Department, according to a report.

Robert Mueller, the former FBI director leading the investigation, is seeking emails that could explain why President Trump fired James Comey, who followed Mueller as FBI directory, according to ABC News.

Mueller is also trying to determine why U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the investigation.

Last week, Sessions said he forgot about a campaign meeting where an aide bragged about Russian contacts and said he could set up a meeting for Trump.

Senate and House Democrats criticized Sessions for previously telling Congress — under oath — that no Trump campaign associates ever communicated with Russian operatives.

Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and his former business partner, Rick Gates, have been indicted on money-laundering and other charges tied to their previous lobbying efforts. They have each pleaded not guilty.
