LSU installs POW/MIA seat of honor at Tiger Stadium
Nick Bromberg,Dr. Saturday•November 10, 2017

LSU is adding a permanent seat of honor for service members declared prisoners of war or those missing in action.

The POW/MIA “Chair of Honor” will be unveiled during a game for the first time on Saturday vs. Arkansas. Saturday is Veteran’s Day. The chair will permanently remain empty and will be guarded by members of LSU’s Corps of Cadets on gamedays.

“We are extremely honored to be part of this program,” LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said in a statement. “LSU has such a rich military tradition and to be able to pay tribute to those who served our country in Tiger Stadium with the ‘Chair of Honor’ is something we are proud of.”

Similar seats will be added at LSU’s basketball arena and baseball and softball stadiums.

LSU’s seat unveiling is one of many college football tributes taking place on Saturday. Some teams are wearing special helmets while others are wearing entire uniforms dedicated to members of the military. Click here to see what some of those tributes are.
