Ignis Optics and One Chip - anyone trying to draw negative comparisons with Lightwave Logic (LWLG) as to the fate of either Ignis Optics or One Chip, both of which Dr Lebby was CEO of in the past is way off base.

To begin with neither of these companies were anything about the development of true-next generation materials and devices like Lightwave Logic (LWLG) is with the development of its Polymer Photonics P2IC
platform.

To be fair, Ignis Optics was a start-up venture way back in 2001, and it had actually developed products with cutting edge technology for its time, and true next-generation technologies were far off in the future of the Industry’s needs in 2001. Ignis Optics product sales were doing quite well when, unfortunately, the Dot-Com Bubble burst, and the industry demand was almost cut off completely and immediately. You may recall that even the behemoths like Nortel Networks had its stock driven down to almost nothing at this time. So Ignis Optics as a stand-alone company did become a casualty of that bursting of the Dot-Com Bubble, but its significant product developments were sucessfully rolled into Bookham Technology and then again into Ocalaro, which today is one of the leading Photonics companies. Oh, and BTW, Dr Lebby went on to become the VP of Technology at Oclaro subsequent to the sale of Ignis Optics in 2003!

As for One Chip, the company was founded in 2005 and Dr Lebby joined their BOD in 2008. The company was focused on developing PIC’s with one of today’s legacy materials InP. Unfortunately, such legacy materials on their own have not exhibited the scalability of cost & performance that the Industry needs going forward. So in 2013 One Chip asked Dr Lebby to take the CEO role and to restructure the company and then eventually to unwind its operations and sell off its NOL’s. Again, to compare One Chip to LWLG is Apples & Oranges, as One Chip was entirely legacy based materials which to-date on their own have not proven capable of true next-generation scalability characteristics, and Lightwave Logic (LWLG) materials and devices are exactly the opposite of that, they are true next-generation, and the 100Gbs device is currently being packaged and expected for Tier 1 customer evaluations by the end of 2017! In addition LWLG is currently scaling to enable 400Gbs devices which are expected to open the flood gates of Industry interest. In fact at the ASM Dr Lebby and Z commented on how LWLG would have to "bar the door" as the interest would grow so great at this time!

Dr Lebby is world renowned in the Photonics Industry. His list of accomplishments is more than incredible! Do your own research >
