I'm sure it's not intentional, but you are missing the point.
We as Americans (I've always wondered why people from the U.S. thinks that only includes us?), are not uninformed. We are over-informed. We have gone from basically TV and newspaper for our sources to a multiple of medias, and it is our bias typically that determines which source we accept as factual. However, this does not imply that we are either ignorant or uninformed.
I know people who swear that 9/11 was a total set up and will be happy to provide me with a plethora of information "proving" their point. While the majority sees these people as "nutjobs". Does this make them right or wrong? Whose to say?
The problem as I see it, is that 95% of the people have a pre-conceived determination of what is correct and are unwilling to consider anything otherwise. It used to be people just disagreed on religion. Now, there are so many more issues to disagree on, and neither side will move their stance that it is "us" vs "them".

Ironically, I try very hard to stay in the middle and view things as impartially as possible, but on this board, by someone no longer here, was attacked for NOT choosing a side......guess ya just can't win.

Just my opinion, of course.
