Just an idea -- Some browsers do certain auto-updates even if you turn those settings off.
Or perhaps there was a "fat finger" mistake at the browser provider that quickly got repaired and another auto-update got issued.

I just closed out the browser and re-opened it and now everything is normal


Did the history and passwords come back?

If not, you could try closing the browser then right click and select "Restore Previous version".
You may need to try this from a Desktop shortcut or from Start\All Programs\your browser folder\your browser .exe
The right click restore option may not be available from a "pinned" shortcut on the Taskbar...

You also might have to do the "Restore" thing several times to get back to the version before the passwords got erased.
Or there may not be any restored versions found - in that case, try "System Restore".
