I'm not crazy about the towels. Hate terry in the kitchen. I bought these a year ago. They were on sale for something like $16.99. Nice and big:

My meat thermometer is kind of like this one:

You just stick the probe in the bird while it's still cold, and put it in the oven. Connect the probe to the base, which stays outside the oven. You set the temperature to whatever you want, and when the bird hits that level, it'll beep its head off.

The first time I used it, I was surprised to see that the bird was done quite a bit sooner than I'd expected.
