This is not the first time we've heard of mitochondrial dysfunction. As you point out, this study is specific to the respiration and energy production of the mitochondria and not the Mitochondria-ER association. It will be interesting to learn which aspect is more critical in LOAD vs EOAD...and whether 2-73 provides any benefit to mitochondrial health, beyond ER association. Perhaps in EOAD the ER association is the issue, where the mitochondria might still be "healthy"?

Seems to be another possibility that, hopefully, Ariana can identify for the few patients with high blood concentrations that did not show an obvious benefit. Was it a deficiency in S1Rs or perhaps mitochondria dysfunction (i.e. LOAD patients)?

Much to be learned!
