Usually at the end of the year when tax loss occurs those beaten down stocks will get lower and oil stocks, GE, etc. maybe good choices. People who got into oil shares too soon, may decide to sell them for a tax loss as well as those who watched them decline over the last few years and give up on them. I am sure oil will be valuable again and GE may recover in the course of 4-5 years also.
