FSLR - First Solar

- Nice STP to start today, slightly high volume
- Well into 52 -week high territory
- Healthy option volumes (between 400-1100 for strikes near money)
That is for Calls, next to no Put volume, which may say something about general sentiment re: FSLR
- All Puts with expiry going forward from today to January are hugely down, from $1.10 - 3.30. Around 50-65 % down just today

- Calls going forward are also slightly down, except starting Oct 6. Prices for almost all calls after that date are up today

- From MT Newswire article today:

First Solar (FSLR) though, is expected to benefit from tariffs on imported panels because it uses a different technology that isn't included in the ruling so its shares rose.

US Trade Commission thinking of imposing tariffs on foreign Solar tech parts, but FSLR uses different style, so may benefit from these tariffs.

Solar Stocks Active on Potential Tariff After ITC Says Cheap Foreign Solar Panels Hurt U.S. Manufacturers

12:29 PM EDT, 09/22/2017 (MT Newswires) -- Solar stocks were on the move Friday after the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) ruled in a case, saying a flood of cheap, foreign solar panels is hurting U.S. manufacturers. That gives President Donald Trump a chance to impose tariffs and import quotas as early as November.
The USITC will hold a hearing on Oct. 3 in Washington, D.C., to consider possible trade remedies. The USITC will likely recommend tariffs to the President by Nov. 13.
However, most solar shares were dropping because higher costs for cells and panels could impede solar projects in the United States. The Solar Energy Industries Association said in a statement "The ITC's decision is disappointing for nearly 9,000 U.S. solar companies and the 260,000 Americans they employ."
Shares of JA Solar Holdings Co.(JASO) and JinkoSolar Holding Co. (JKS) fell. First Solar (FSLR) though, is expected to benefit from tariffs on imported panels because it uses a different technology that isn't included in the ruling so its shares rose.
