The scientists estimate, however, that by adjusting to 35% efficiency and incorporating savings from economies of scale that could be achieved through ramping up production, the cost per watt could quickly be reduced to below $1/W."

So the cost per watt after efficiency in production will likely be several times more costly than the current cell that Natcore has. Current cells are far less costly than these exotic cells. The exotic cells will likely be useful for cells that need high efficiency due to highly limited space(ie. space travel & satellites).
