Funny the other day I said my father used to say “I forgot more than X will ever know” I read Steve’s & Walters Pots about Lebby doing a presentation next year on the precise reasons that the market needs to move towards “Polymers” to solve the “Purple Brick Wall Issues” Started to toast a bagel then wham that little brain cell in the back of my head woke up and I remembered that the Goetzs named Perkinamie after Sir William Henry Perkin because Perkinamines roots are in the purple dye that he invented.

Anyway perhaps Lebby could incorporate that in his presentation. I went through the stack of paperwork I have in the corner from that period of time, Essex, Turpin, Northrop, Teng-Man, Lumera white papers, Dalton U of W, the first web site, all my research but could not find anything on this, this was back in the day so most of that data is archived on the internet. Andrew would know. Anyhow I’ll credit Purple Critter with planting that name in my head so long ago.

Purple Brick Wall = Perkinamine = Sir William Henry Perkins

Coincidence, Perhaps?

Xster Purple (rain) but please rain don’t all weekend, Else I'll consume too many Orange Crushes n kill of a few more brain cells.

I think it was Punk that said that he could not understand why Lightwave would invented new products or something like that yesterday. Why create something better when the market already has a device, I tried to break it down but perhaps this will help.

"Polymer based PICs offer scalability with increased data-rates as well as lower cost structures and provide an excellent vehicle to address the 'purple brick walls’ (cost/performance) that have appeared in photonics roadmaps."

Folks the world has a HUGE problem and todays materials will not work, they can not scale, PERIOD How smart were the Goetzs back in the day?

The problem is obvious by the amount of talent already signed up for that conference.
