The answer to both questions is the same. The only thing that will get the price out of the doldrums is an announcement that the company is finally going to sell some product to somebody.

You can't very well have a company that just develops and develops and develops forever without at some point having to sell something and make a profit.

If and when that day comes, it will be too late to consider jumping in, or cost averaging your way in or whatever, because the stock will move instantly. You'll either be holding at that moment or not.

So, if you believe that will happen, that's your explanation for why you would give them another year. If not, don't. The increased volume is either a data point that someone knows that something is coming, or it's not.

Given the tortured history of this company, what would your guess be?
