Another blackberry memory from Long Island, where I was raised.

We lived in what was considered a "cow town" and it was during the Great Depression. The town was mostly woods and fields with a few houses on each block post World War II.

I would go blackberry picking across the street from my Grandma's house. The blackberry bushes would reach for the sun growing higher and higher. The blackberries were big back then. The older kids would harvest and lower containers down from the tree next to the blackberry bushes.

Fast forward five years and all of the trees were cut down and the lots were replaced by houses. End of an era and all of those blackberry bushes plus its memories :(
