June 4-Dark clouds rolled in during the early afternoon. Then thunder in the distance. CC the Calico Cat woke up from her nap and sought out her usual hiding place during rain storms. I left for the bus stop.

Honeybees have discovered the squash blossoms. My hope is they discover the melon blossoms. More have appeared on the first two Polish Model melons. I tickled them again with a bird feather. Maybe it will work.

I've started in on blueberry hole #3. The soil underneath the wood chips is mostly clay. What else in new in the Piedmont? An encouraging sign is the recent rains have convinced me it drains well.

I nailed up the end boards of what is to be a raised strawberry bed. I will spade up the soil and amend it with lots of manure and leaves, then cover it and let the mixture cook.

Maybe I can get Dreama to take an image of the asparagus bed Monday morning. It's lush due to all this rain.

Old Cadillacs never die. The finance company take 'em and faaaaade 'em away.
