Are you able to determine the specific allure?

It took me a long time to realize that my biggest gainers were not the guaranteed quarterly distributions. And it took longer for me to accept that the real measure of ROI is total return including capital appreciation and not limited to distributions managed or controlled by someone else.

The gains I'm raking in from ALDW far exceed those possible with AMZA. It's a combination of appreciation and distributions and the smarts to take advantage of buying opportunities as they develop. It's taken some nerve to add when everyone else seemed to be selling and some margin buying as well as forgoing opportunities to go with the crowd and pile onto far safer plays.

I love the excitement of building positions. I care not for guaranteed income. I crave the romantic feelings brought on by defying the odds and moving in motion contrary to that of most others.

And today has produced another strong gain in ALDW while each of my other dozen picks gave up a smidgeon. It was my only gainer! That's extraordinary for a stock selling for less than $9 a week ago.

You may find AMZA a better fit for yourself. A very good friend of mine fits that description. However, he holds around 7000
ALDW too, so he's got a foot in both worlds.

As you now see, I had to know that I could survive individual stocks without looking for refuge in closed end funds or ETFs. It works for me as I somehow make some huge gains as is the case now with ALDW. In the end it comes down to going all in on my final choices even when I'm running scared. I refuse to be beaten by myself.

You might try launching a position with just a few hundred units to get the feel of it? The board will be helpful, I'm sure. Me too, if I can.
