Couldn't agree more. just a matter of time and resources. He modeled the concept after the likes of the cult classic Rocky horror picture show. A movie released back in 1975 and to this day is still played exclusively in certain theaters that are thriving on the concept as their sole source of income; where the cos-play "distractions" are both welcomed by consumers and encouraged by management. So if marketed properly, there is a market and the concept does work.
Will it actually change the landscape of movies as we know it? That is a tough call and remains to be seen. But then again who would have ever thought there would be a market for a phone app that chases and captures imaginary monsters sitting in laundry mats and on park benches, but damned if I don't have adult friends that actually spend hours pursuing "Pokemon Go", a ridiculous sounding phone app by all standards of common sense; that had the power to move a market on the day it was released and for a while afterwards. So there is certainly a significant market for this type of entertainment.
