April 2-The weather conditions all day were hazy, with more humidity. It is a only a precursor of what's to come. I phoned Jerry about Thursday's order. He said bring 5 Cherokee Purple tomatoes right away. I collected them in a cardboard box and took the bus uptown. Jerry said he will be at this farmers market inside the Smelly Cat coffee lounge on Saturday. I told him I could harvest some lettuce plants and get on the 3 or 23 which makes a right turn at 36th. He said he'd think about it. Meanwhile, I'm taking 10 tomato plants and one each of the four lettuce varieties so he can show them to a chef.

The rest of the day was the usual. Digging up dirt for another 6ft timber. Coffee grinds from Starbucks. Up potting started plants.

I did put in 6 Green Syrian lettuce plants and an Eva Purple Ball tomato plant in the bed where Ali parks his SUV.

On the way home I dropped by the library to check email. I received one from Hannah, the chef at the Zia Pia. We arranged a time when she can drop by after the lunch rush on Thursday. Little does she know she has lucked into a vegetable gold mine.

The first Rosa Bianca eggplants will have to go into the soil next week. They're getting pot bound.

Old Cadillacs never die. The finance company take 'em and faaaaade 'em away.
