Noble Corp., GE partner to develop digital rig solution
Noble Corp. (NE -0.6%) enters into a partnership with General Electric (GE -0.9%) to collaborate on an advanced data analytics system for offshore drilling rigs.
The agreement calls for GE to initially deploy its digital asset performance management system on four NE drilling rigs as part of a fleet pilot program, targeting a 20% reduction in repair and maintenance expenditures across the pilot rigs
RBC analyst Kurt Hallead thinks targeting efficiency gains through digital solutions "makes a lot of sense" as operators continue seek ways to reduce the cost of offshore exploration and development.
