Are people seriously asking is Calabria is a "friend?" He worked for Cato, a libertarian think tank, which is fundamentally opposed to entities like GSEs with government guarantees. No chance he supports action that would benefit existing shareholders.

Ultimately, depending on Mnuchin/Cohen/Trump decision, he may support parts of it, but in no way whatsoever is Calabria's involvement positive for existing shareholders.

The only exception is that he believes that UST and FHFA acted inappropriately, possibly illegally, but that is up to the courts.
