My questions and answers
I contacted persons in the film industry that I have had dealings with and received some interesting answers to my questions. These persons are not employed by IP but are knowledgable re all aspects of the movie industry.

My Questions and answers
‘I have never seen what has been labeled a short film and I suspect I have significant company. Although I know the Palm Springs Short film festival is quite popular. Could you please answer some questions for me ?

What is the average length of a film to qualify for 'short film' category.

ANYWHERE BETWEEN 5 MINUTES AND 30 MINUTES.

What is average revenue stream of short films

MOST SHORT FILMS DON'T MAKE MONEY. IP IS THE EXCEPTION! THE DIFFERENCE WITH IP IS THEY USE THEM AS PROOF OF CONCEPTS SO THAT MAJOR STUDIOS AND FINANCIERS CAN SEE HOW A FEATURE FILM WOULD LOOK AND BE BEFORE THEY MAKE IT. THINK OF IT AS A PROTOTYPE. . BUT PROOF OF CONCEPTS CAN MAKE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 100K AND 500K (PLUS OTHER FEES) WHEN THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IS SOLD TO STUDIOS IN ORDER TO MAKE A LARGER FEATURE FROM THEM.

If a normal length film is then made from the short film idea, would the full length be released under a different title?

SOMETIMES YES. SOMETIMES NO. DEPENDS ON THE TITLE.

Any other description or information you can provide
UNDER IP SYSTEM EVEN IF DISTRIBUTION DOES NOT HAPPEN THEY STILL CAN EXPERIENCE THE RECOVERY OF COSTS OF PRODUCTION VIA - I.E. FILM FESTIVALS EXPOSURE.

So endith the lesson!! DO YOUR OWN DD.
