Guy in my condo complex got word his cancer had come back. It was too much for him- this was during the great recession and he owed a lot money. He took the call while lounging at my building pool. He went directly to his nearby unit, got a gun and walked back to my building, went into the ground floor bathroom, entered a shower and shot himself through his open mouth.
In addition to the ordeal of treating cancer, he had lived large and found the come-down of the recession hard to take.
When you cut through the bravado, he was a likeable guy. He sure brought some beautiful women to the pool.
Take-away: take care of health and live small.
