TPL will only report a land sale before earnings if it is unusually large. Try to find how much of the 1/16 royalty land is part of "Alpine High." I asked the CFO of TPL and he was not willing to give an answer. I asked IR of APA and they would not say. Regardless, production from Alpine-High will not be substantial until infrastructure is built out...so we may not see the impact on TPL royalties until 2018, if at all. I have no idea as to the value of surface acreage. If a well is drilled on TPL surface land without any royalty land, I have no idea as to what TPL would get or for what period of time. The Permian will produce royalties for the next 30-50 years for TPL. The amount and timing of those royalties and "sundrie" income is unknown. TPL is a unique stock. Someday some billionaire may try to lock up shares in the company to skyrocket the price. If someone tries and it all unravels then watch out below.
