They may be going through the same Market Makers on the Bid or Ask, but they are not the same investors or traders. If you or I enter a buy or sell trade it will be routed to one of several MM's, and then it will appear as an offer to sell or a bid to buy. But the traders/investors on the bid and ask are not typically the same individuals. There were multiple stacked bids this afternoon, and just one MM offering to sell below .055, and they were offering shares on the Ask at .042.
