re:"Would someone explain why Anavex 2-73 could quite probably prove to be synergistic with Fortasyn??? "

That was kind of out of the blue. But hey, I'll take a crack at it. :)

Fortasyn appears to be basically a concoction of nutritional substances, basically, vitamins, selected as beneficial to the Central Nervous System. As might be expected, it has been proven to do no harm. It also seems to be beneficial with early stage AZ. I guess it depends on to what extent AZ is caused by a nutritional deficiency.

In holistic circles, there is a spectrum of thinking that, at its extreme, believes that all disease is caused by a deficiency of vital nutrients. At the other end, there are doctors who say you don't need to take vitamin pills, that you can get all you need from food, followed by a suggestion to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Guess one can't go wrong suggesting fruits and vegetables. The common theme here being that vitamins are good.

Maybe a brain cell could be thought of as analgeous to an internal combustion engine. Your car engine needs lubricating oil to function properly. If, for some reason, it runs out of oil, the bearings inside will heat up, melt, then fuse together, after which the engine suffers a series of seizures and finally no longer functions, because it is seized up. Adding oil back in at this point will do no good, not until the engine is repaired. Repairing the damage takes going in there with wrenches and so forth. I would tend to think of the vitamins to be like the oil, whereas, Anavex 2-73 actually works to repair the damage.

There could be other factors such as hereditary, or prions and/or other difficult to detect contaminants. But, I have been thinking about ordering a supplement otc product similar to Fortasyn after I find the ad again. At least, one would be able to cross "nutritional deficiency" off the list.
