Maybe we'll see how appropriate the RICO charges are? I notice the infamous Sib Almaz is absent from the superseding indictment. lol

Nikolaj Vissokovsky = casinos

A few more old posts. This is going to get VERY interesting, imo.

The Mob is just using a refined model based on loan-sharking. Find a moderately appealing business hook (diamonds, processing or medical cures). Rescue or set up a penny company with a CEO who has drug, alcohol or gambling "problems" in return for practical control of the company. Indulge his vices in LV and milk the company dry as repayment.

Everybody but the stuckholders wins. The financiers, consultants, front men (like Edwards and the Tomassos), and watchdogs (like Maheu) and the CEO. Even the paid pumpers make out OK.

Only if the feds go after the CEO or a front man will there be any substantial risk. Then, because of who the CEO and front men have been dealing with, they will surely take the 5th and/or flee or quietly toddle off to prison because it was a "good run" and they have had time to bury their share of the proceeds looted from the company.

IMO, all of this is very, very obvious. ... eom

I agree! Jarta, your post was spot on.

or set up a penny company with a CEO who has drug, alcohol or gambling "problems" in return for practical control of the company.

Harlan states that it was Jensen who set them up with Keith Houser's BioTech Medics. Did Jensen also introduce them to Cassavant? Was that Jensen's role to find likely candidates for CEO's?

A: I was president and I tried to find a suitable candidate business to reverse merge with Corbel. And finally in the Fall of 2004, through Chris Jensen (CMKX, GBDX), I found
Halolaser.
SEC ?: DId anyone else have contact with Jeffrey Turino?
A: Vince Lo Castro
SEC ?: Mr Jensen you indicated was the individual that introduced you to BioTech?
A: Yes, And he told me that he'd come up with this wonderful company to go into Corbel. He told me that I was to take full credit, he did NOT want to be known as the individual that put the company together for reasons I don't understand to this day.

they will surely take the 5th = Urban
or quietly toddle off to prison = Hughes

The financiers, consultants, front men (like Edwards and the Tomassos), and watchdogs (like Maheu) and the CEO. Even the paid pumpers make out OK.

You should have included the attorneys who played a huge role. Harlan stated it was Turino who appointed him CEO of Corbel. It is very likely Turino appointed Haseltine CEO of St. George Metals too. So when things at SGGM got messy with the SEC Haseltine (Turino's tool) resign in a letter to Harlan (Turino's other tool). How convenient!

From Harlan:

Why did you report back to Mr. Turino?

16 A. Well, he was the one with all the power :
17 and control. And this, you know, this -- it wasn't
18 up to me.

23 g. Though you were president of Corbel
24 Holdings, did you have the authority to take any
25 independent action on behalf of Corbel Holdings?

i A. None.

7 Q. Who directed all of your actions
8 regarding Corbel Holdings and/or Pinnacle when you
9 were an officer?

10 A. Jeff Turino.
11 And then -- and some items I would
12 discuss with -- with Bruce Hall as related to
13 Pinnacle Business Management. He was the CEO from
14 the company. But -- but Mr. Hall also looked to
15 Mr. Turino for the direction as to how to proceed.

And there's the GBDX story waiting in the wings. It's going to be interesting when the phantom Sib Almaz is revealed.

Nikolaj Vissokovsky, the former producer of the defunct "Nebulae: The LifeForce," will be one of the shady characters exposed in an upcoming book "Fistful of Dollars."

The author, John Brotherton, is a former Players International casino bigwig who worked for Vissokovsky at one of his nightclubs in Moscow. Brotherton alleges the Russian heavy was a leader in the Mafia who at one point kidnapped him when Brotherton reportedly uncovered some illegalities afoot at the club.
Vissokovsky was plagued by the Mafia rumors during his brief attempt to break into the Las Vegas showbiz scene. After extremely low ticket sales, poor reviews and financial disagreements with landlords at the Venetian Showroom, Vissokovsky unexpectedly split in August. When he walked away, his company allegedly left hefty IOUs all over town.

"Fistful of Dollars" is expected to hit bookstores in mid-November.

But he says things went awry when the casino boss, Nikolaj Vissokovsky (whom Brotherton claims was also Norris' partner) withheld his $8,000 monthly salary. Brotherton's "travesty" only grew when a bag of money--the exact amount is disputed--was stolen from the business, and Vissokovsky accused Brotherton of the theft and told him to stay at the hotel until an investigation was done.,

from Harlan:

14. I am personally familiar with Nikolaj Vissokovsky, a Russian-American
businessman. I worked with him for more than 25 years, as his lawyer, on various
personal, real estate, and corporate matters. In 2003, I helped him to ~incorporatea
corporation, Atlantic & Pacific Seafood, for which his daughter, Victbria Lee is a
corporate officer, but that he controls. I was also an officer and registered agent
for Atlantic & Pacific Seafood.
15. I introduced Vissokovsky to Turino in July 2003, and they began doing business
in the areas of corporate stock transactions and financing. Vissokovsky has a
Case 8:02-cv-00822-EAK Document 39-12 Filed 05/29/2009 Page 2 of 4
home in Russia, about an hour from Moscow, and is a frequent international
traveler.
16. Later in November 2005, Vissokovsky and Turino directed me to go to the Czech
Republic to visit a seafood factory. World Wide Cannery & Distribution, Inc.
was created to operate this seafood factory. Vissokovsky and Turino controlled
World Wide Cannery. Later, I understand that World Wide Cannery became
Global Diamond Exchange, Inc., which then traded under the ticker symbol,
GBDX.
17. On April 10, 2006, World Wide Cannery issued a press release claiming that it
had 14.5 million euros in annual revenue for 2005. I know that this press release
was false, because the seafood factory had been losing money and was
subsequently lost in foreclosure in February of2006.

Just my opinion, of course.
