DDhawk, yes I'd watched Hollingsworth's 80 minute video before.

In the "Behind the White Coat" video,
she mentions her collaborator Han Htoon. (Her giant nanorod quip there made me laugh)

Here, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=Htoon+H. PubMed shows 81 published papers Htoon collaborated on, 7 of them in 2014, including another with Hollingsworth titled, "Competition between Auger Recombination and Hot-Carrier Trapping in PL Intensity Fluctuations of Type II Nanocrystals"

Htoon's work is cited 9 times in the "Heterostructuring Nanocrystal Quantum Dots Toward Intentional Suppression of Blinking and Auger Recombination" http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3778929/ manuscript written by Jennifer Hollingsworth you posted first.

Two of those nine citations link to full Author manuscripts by Htoon at PubMed, and look to be Giant QD performance related:

(1) "Two types of photoluminescence blinking revealed by single quantum dot spectroelectrochemistry"
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3390028/
(2) "Highly Emissive Multiexcitons in Steady-State Photoluminescence of Individual “Giant” CdSe/CdS Core/Shell Nanocrystals"
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2912411/

In the Acknowledgements of Hollingsworth's "Blinking and Auger Recombination" paper is,

"She also acknowledges that applied research toward the development and application of non-blinking infrared quantum dots as molecular probes is supported by NIH-NIGMS Grant 1R01GM084702-01, while research directed toward the elimination of non-radiative processes relevant to applications in solid-state lighting is supported by a Single Investigator Small Group Research Grant (2009LANL1096)"

Maybe that Small Group award at LANL in April she shared with Alexandre Mikhailovski lines up with the second grant named. Could be a closing of a chapter, but sometimes SBIR proposals and such are helped by these ongoing investigations. (I recall someone posting 'grant' recently gave me the thought)

None of this is light reading for my part. I'm working through that 3M Optics 101 series and the Dec 2013 "Quantum Dots" video by Ph.D Brandi Cossairt
others have posted here first. Sould help get the dust off them decade(s) passed 'non-calculus physics course topics' keep cropping up in QDot fluourphore and Solid State lighting discussions.
