Congratulations to Novicetrader for winning the contest as well as to Larrybaz, Valuemind and Hweb2 for their strong 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes.
Thanks as always to SSKILLZ1 for running the contest and putting in all the work.

A lot of very scamy stocks are flying in this market .... BSLK up 140% today on huge volume is just one example.
Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone
The auto industry could be facing a very challenging 2025 -

TSLA, GM, F
OPTT - good luck, maybe it will retest the July high of $0.61
OPTT +.12 to .40 on huge early volume of 45M .... now up an astounding 135% from your post just 2 days ago ! Unfortunately I'm on the sidelines, but have been both long and short this stock in past years.
Great call at 0.17 on Monday !
DELL -16 to 125 after hours. Oct Q3 earnings were decent but the revenues and guidance a bit below estimates .... I may add a few shares tomorrow. Their AI server business is booming. PC sales may get a boost next year as windows 10 support terminates which triggers many customers to upgrade their PCs, including me. Windows 11 runs best on newer PCs.
briefing -
Dell beats by $0.09, misses on revs; Note: co guides on the call (141.71 -2.46) :
Reports Q3 (Oct) earnings of $2.15 per share, excluding non-recurring items, $0.09 better than the FactSet Consensus of $2.06; revenues rose 9.5% year/year to $24.37 bln vs the $24.67 bln FactSet Consensus.
Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) segment delivered record Q3 revenue of $11.4 billion, up 34% year over year. Servers and networking revenue was $7.4 billion, up 58%, with demand growth across AI and traditional servers. Storage revenue was $4.0 billion, up 4%.
"AI is a robust opportunity for us with no signs of slowing down," said Jeff Clarke, vice chairman and chief operating officer, Dell Technologies. "Interest in our portfolio is at an all-time high, driving record AI server orders demand of $3.6 billion in Q3 and a pipeline that grew more than 50%, with growth across all customer types."
Client Solutions Group (CSG) segment delivered Q3 revs of $12.1 billion, down 1% year over year. Commercial client revenue was up 3% at $10.1 bln, and Consumer revenue was $2.0 bln, down 18%.
Dell guides on the call: projects Q4 earnings and revs below consensus; provides FY26 commentary (141.74 -2.42) :
Co issues downside guidance for Q4 (Jan), sees EPS of $2.40-2.60, excluding non-recurring items, vs. $2.65 FactSet Consensus; sees Q4 (Jan) revs of $24-25 bln vs. $25.59 bln FactSet Consensus.
Co provides FY26 commentary:
"We expect multiple tailwinds going into next year, including more robust AI demand supported by our strong five quarter pipeline. There's also an aging installed base in both PCs and traditional servers that are primed for a refresh. We expect ISG growth to be driven primarily by our AI servers, followed by traditional servers and storage. We expect CSG to grow as enterprise customers refresh a large and aging install base. We'll continue to balance growth and profitability, managing price within the competitive landscape and input cost environment, and we'll continue to invest in the business, while driving cost efficiencies across the portfolio."
ATRO -2.84 to 14.77, a puzzling reaction to the convertible bond offering since the conversion price is so far out of the money. Maybe a potential trade war is also behind the drop since 25% of their business is international ?
I put it on my watchlist. Thanks.
Novicetrader - congratulations on a spectacular 104% gain last week in the PSL4 contest that catapulted you from 12th place to 1st place with a big lead heading into this final week ! I liked your savvy trade into SMCX, the SMCI 2x leveraged ETF, after the big rally in QUBT. And all your positions throughout the contest were very liquid, so anyone could have followed along to achieve your 146% return in 6 months.
You should consider changing your alias from Novicetrader to Savvytrader ! (IHUB allows name changes). Clearly you're an expert, not a novice.

GM and a lot of other stocks getting hit on Trump's threat last night to immediately levy 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada when he takes office unless they comply with his border security demands.

I have an idle account with Merrill and just got in without problem.
SSK - you're right - I had forgotten that your sell decision on 7/16 was excellent and the broader market did indeed fall sharply over the next 3 weeks or so. But then in the 3 weeks after that it fully recovered. The problem with market timing is that one has to make 2 decisions - when to sell and when to buy back. And being an average of 60% in cash YTD, as you have been, makes it very difficult to outperform in a bull market. Of course we'll eventually have another crash or a bear market, and then you'll outperform, but who knows when that will happen ? If I were doing market timing then I'd guess we get a 10%+ correction sometime in the first quarter of next year, but not in the remaining weeks of this year.
I'll be staying 80% to 90% invested reagardless of what the market does. I'm not a market timer. There are always plenty of stocks that look undervalued.
MVST offers excellent option premiums as well .... I covered part of my position with Dec $1 calls which fetched $0.10. So 37% out of the money and lowers my cost basis by 14%, expiring in just 4 weeks. Lots of speculation is driving high option premiums.
MVST +.05 to .72 on volume of 10M. Looks like a nice find. I just picked up a few shares. Just 16 months ago this stock was near $3 and the company's prospects look better now than back then.
SSK - you were also scared of market froth when you bailed out of numerous stocks on 7/16 - yet the S&P is up 5% since then and the Russell up 8% ..... and the stocks you sold are up even more on average.
https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=174762685&txt2find=aso
Do you really think a major correction is looming before year end ??? Seems to me like the small caps are starting to outperform and still have significant catching up to do .... the Russell is up 1.7% today while the S&P is essentially flat and the megacaps are mostly down or flat.
Wall Street Analysts are forecasting another strong year in 2025 ..... if so, maybe we'll get a bear market in 2026 ? I'd guess we at least get a major correction at some point in 2025.

Exactly right - if a stock doesn't behave the way Wade thinks it should, then he says it's being manipulated or acting irrationally. And if others trade stocks he doesn't think are undervalued he says they're gambling. His arrogance and insulting posts are why many people have him on "ignore", as I have from time to time.
Schwab - all brokers accept placement of DAY and GTC orders at any time including weekends, but they are only in effect for execution during the relevant trading hours.
This evening I was successfully able to place an EXTO order for SPY but not for TSLA. Both have the 24hr symbol next to them, but only the SPY order was accepted. The TSLA order was rejected due to it being in "PILOT" mode.
TSLA - I just placed a test order to buy TSLA which is marked as 24 hours eligible, but the order was rejected with the message -
"REJECTED - this symbol is in limited pilot for XTO"
Schwab currently offers 24 hour trading in selected ETFs such as SPY (S&P500). Individual stocks are in beta mode but not yet available to most customers (maybe one can ask to participate in the trial). The orders must be entered through ToS at this point in time.

ACRS bio-bust now $3.80 after hitting $5.17 earlier this week .... at $3.80 it's up about 500% from your post a year ago ! A great find. Unfortunately I sold at around $1.15 long ago .....
OT - I'm not seeing that in Yahoo email. Maybe you have a customization issue or glitch ? Try rebooting your PC.

SMCI +3.40 to 33.10, now up 92% from last Friday's low of $17.25 .... it was a steal at that price and I regret being too cautious in buying and hedging with covered calls. I didn't expect that they'd find a reputable new auditor so quickly, especially not of the caliber of BDO. It was a very pleasant surprise and the stock rally reflects that.
HALO (48.00) is back to where it was in late October. Yeah, the stock is tainted now as I posted previously, so I doubt it will be back over $60 anytime soon. I'm holding, but hedging with covered calls. I wish the premiums were better.
CNXC +3.78 to 43.34, nice call on the bottom fishing. Are you taking some quick profits ?
HALO - unfortunately this misguided takeover bid raises questions about management's vision for the future and confidence in their own growth guidance .... will they be making other acquisition bids ? The stock is recovering nicely but remains well below recent all time highs.
HALO +6.25 to 51.95 in premarket after withdrawal of the takeover bid -
SAN DIEGO, Nov. 22, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Halozyme Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: HALO) ("Halozyme" or the "Company") today announced it has withdrawn its non-binding proposal to acquire Evotec SE (NASDAQ: EVO) ("Evotec") for €11.00 per share in cash, implying a fully diluted equity value of €2.0 billion.
Helen Torley, president and chief executive officer of Halozyme, shared the following statement:
"We continue to believe that a combination of Halozyme and Evotec would create a leading, differentiated, global pharma services company, benefitting shareholders, patients and employees. However, to date, Evotec has been unwilling to engage with us to explore a potential combination and a company spokesperson has publicly commented that its goal is to remain an independent company. As a result, we are withdrawing our proposal to acquire Evotec for €11.00 per share in cash.
In the months leading to our proposal, we engaged in extensive external diligence, and we sought to engage with Evotec in a discussion about our vision and the benefits for the combination. Early on, we had informal discussions with a member of the Supervisory Board and communicated our interest in exploring a potential business combination. Subsequently, we sought to earnestly engage Evotec's Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board on Halozyme's vision, and our thoughts as to the many benefits of the transaction; regrettably, our multiple requests to meet were not accepted. Thus, a formal bona fide proposal to the CEO was the only way to convey that our interest in exploring a potential transaction was strong, credible and well informed. It has now become evident that there is no interest at this time on the part of Evotec's Supervisory and Management Boards to engage constructively with Halozyme and explore a potential transaction.
We will continue advancing our mission to improve the patient treatment experience and we are confident in Halozyme's future. We believe that we are well-positioned to execute our existing strategy with clear line of sight to 10 approved products with ENHANZE® in 2025 and $1 billion of royalty revenue in 2027, continuing to deliver tremendous value for all stakeholders. We reiterate our recently raised 2024 guidance for revenue of $970-$1,020 million and adjusted EBITDA of $595-$625 million, representing significant double-digit growth, as we maintain strong momentum entering 2025."
PLAY -.05 to 34.20, looks interesting as a potential restaurant turnaround play, but I would note some negatives -
- Dave & Buster's same store sales down 6% y/y for Jul Q2
- Analyst EPS estimates for FY26 have been falling steadily and are down to $3.53 from $5.24 just 6 months ago, a 33% drop. It's no wonder the stock is down sharply since then.
- Tax loss selling will remain a factor until year end.
- Seasonally weak Oct Q3 results will be reported in early December. Maybe a weak quarter is fully priced in, but maybe not.
I put it on my watchlist.
NVDA +1% after setting an all time high this morning, but SMCI +15% and DELL +4%. A great day for the AI server stocks.
Wade - this is my final post in regards to your past returns .... those stocks you list were all board favorites. Bobwins introduced AGM to the board and I got into it soon after. You followed me in and were constantly asking me about AGM. It was a big long term winner for me too. Same goes for UVE, a long time board favorite.
I'm skeptical you'll produce 40% annualized returns going forward, but good luck. Maybe you should go short again with leveraged ETFs since a sharp correction or bear market may be looming sometime in 2025. The market can't keep going up like it has the past 2 years.
Obviously you don't have confidence in your future returns since you've gone 90%+ into treasury bonds. I can understand your lack of confidence based on your poor results the past 2 years in the Wadegarret portfolio. I hope you can turn things around. Good luck.
Wade - your Wadegarret portfolio gains are entirely due to your correct call to short the market in 2022. You were concentrated in SQQQ and other leveraged ETF which got you a 231% gain by November 2022. So congratulations on that - it was a great call. But nobody would take that kind of risk with real money .... going fully short with leveraged ETFs is super risky imo.
Since being up 231% in Nov 2022, you're now up 170%, so you're down 18% the past 2 years during a fabulous bull market .... which for a long time you insisted was nothing more than a bear market rally. That was an awful call.
So as far as market timing is concerned, you made a great call followed by a terrible call. Overall it's still a good result thanks to the spectacular gains in those leveraged short ETFs.
Your day trading this year would be interesting if you were actually making money, but you're not. You keep going in and out of a highly concentrated portfolio on a near daily basis driven by what seems like impulse trading. That has nothing to do with fundamentals.
I'm sure you have an excellent 20 year track, but it's mostly due to following this board and the picks of others. Maybe you should go back to doing that ? Invest in the stocks chosen by the top stockpickers on this board. The Pick10 contest is an excellent source for long term buy/holds - no daytrading involved. Since you're only 5% invested and 95% in cash you can even buy the illiquid KIK picks if you're willing to hold them for more than a few hours. PSIX was a great find by KIK, up around 1500% since early this year, way better than NVDA. It was super illiquid back in Jan/Feb yet over about 6 weeks I was able to accumulate a very small position with GTC orders at around $2 per share.
Here's the Pick10 - a great source for stock picks -

AES - I got a fill at 13.25 today. The chart looks oversold and it should find technical support soon. Worst case might be the 2023 low of around $11.50.
Beware that 2/3 of revenues come from 3rd world nations mostly in Latin America, especially Chile, Dominican Republic and El Salvador. Outside Latin America they have significant revenue from Vietnam and Bulgaria (see 10K pg 171). So there's some risk in that including exchange rates. A strong dollar would hurt, although they do some hedging. Even so, I like the risk/reward at around $13 and lower.
SNFCA acting well .... I'm still holding.
NVDA (145) essentially unchanged after hours. It was a great quarter, beating estimates, but missing the "whisper numbers". Quarterly revenues have gotten so huge that a slowdown in the growth rate is inevitable.
Wade - why do you make such ridiculous statements ? It's no wonder that people put you on ignore. Just last week you were shorting AAOI. Now you're saying it's super dangerous to short any stock. You're all over the place with your impulsive trades and remarks. Who can take your posts seriously ? You totally contradict yourself.
Yeah, shorting stocks is risky and when I do it my positions are very small. I never been over 5% aggregate short in my portfolio and that's a rarity. But recently I shorted DJT and LLY, both profitable trades and mostly closed out. Overall through the years, despite some losers, shorting has been quite profitable for me. But it's easier to profit on long positions. Mostly the market goes higher.
AAOI +4.65 to 33.20, why don't you sell it short if you're so confident that a selloff is imminent ?
NVDA -3 to 144, not far below the recent all time high of $149. It's sure to be another strong quarter, but I'm guessing it's a sell the news event. Options imply an expected move of 9% up or down. I'll be watching from the sidelines but have AI exposure through SMCI and DELL.
OGN -.55 to 14.55, looks oversold, but last year you got burned by this one and took a big loss in the $14's and failed to get back in a month later in the $11's which turned out to be a terrific buying opportunity .... 6 months later it was over $22 for a double off the bottom. Sometimes I think you are too quick to sell based on a mildly disappointing quarter. Are you more confident of earnings estimates this year ?
