A question from a 74 year old. I currently own (only 2% of my entire portfolio) equal dollar amounts of 5 bitcoin companies:
RIOT, MARA, BITF, HVBT, and HUT as of now.
On CNBC many times it seems that "old timers" (like me) do not see bitcoin surviving or having any real value and that it is just a fad.
But I know many younger analysts say the older guys do not understand bitcoin.
Now I consider myself very knowledgeable in stocks and investing regarding the technical and fundamental parts of investing.
Having said that I want to be in (FOMO) bitcoin still but my question is this:
Of the 5 stocks I mentioned 3 of them have P/E ratios and so they are profitable and it seems that the other 2 will soon be profitable,
so I ask any and all of you younger (or older) investors if you think based on the costs and time left to mine bitcoins, do you think
that they "can and will" remain profitable over time and therefore are real "investments" or not?
I am posting this question on all of the 5 boards, so please forgive me if you also follow the same 5.
Thanks in advance for any who can answer my question.
Ray
Ok cool
Update today! https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bitfarms-provides-bitcoin-production-mining-110000275.html
Positive earnings soon?
Positive cash flow?
Seems ahead of HUT.
Yes with HIVE or HUT we are just any other investor, but I did buy some bitcoin directly through PayPal and it wasn't too bad. I did make about 20% and got out and went to these stocks instead.
But while I am sorry for your illness, I am glad you and the wife can keep on keeping on and still "rockin'".
ROCK on and go HVBT.
LOL Thanks I actually do (and did) ROCK for over 50 years playing guitar in bands. I still play every day almost singing and "rocking" (LOL) at nursing homes for the last 20 years. Bands stopped about 7 years ago, and I am a recording artist and so I "do" still ROCK.
That's ok I probably would get too confused
(it happens at 74 LOL) if I had too many crypto stocks to think about anyway.
I for now will stick with HVBT and HUT and once in a while mix in RIOT or MARA.
Or maybe just go with ETF's like BLOK, BITQ, or DAPP?
thanks
Thanks, but I do know that but I can't find a stock like HVBT, or HUT which I already own that mines ADA.
I know ETHE mines ethereum and I know HUT mines Bitcoin.
I also know ETF's like BITQ, DAPP, abd BLOK, plus RIOT, and MARA.
I just can't find one symbol that is for ADA (Cardano)
thanks, Ray
What symbol trades ADA (Cardano)? I am so far happy with
HVBT and HUT.
It seems there are so many crypto currencies. If there are too many and more to come I would think the value of BITCOIN and ETHEREUM would be lessened?
Maybe it is just me being a 74 year old trying to keep up?
LOL
I only have 1% of my portfolio in crypto stocks however, but FOMO keeps my toe in the shark infested waters.
Great stuff.
Much more to come going forward.
HUT up another 20% today.
HUT up again pre market 7%.
Thanks.
GREAT video:
Why I have HVBT & HUT: VIDEO link:
UPDATED new video link: Nice and why I have HUT & HVBT.
HUT up 50% in 10 days
New in at $9
I agree
Staying with RIOT. But that is what I do too. Jump from any of 6 bitcoin plays to play 1 or more.
RIOT
MARA
COIN
HVBT
or
(etf's)
DAPP
BITQ
BLOK
NOW load up...ready, set, go.
That was from Ameritrade and from the company itself.
I do not usually quote from other posters.
I do not doubt what you are saying my friend as I do not know the company as you do.
I do have RIOT and ETHE also and I have had MARA.
In addition to ETF's like BLOK, BITQ, and DAPP, which all own all of these stocks in their holdings.
Good luck and thanks.
Just for the record this is about 1/2 of the article I quoted from:
HIVE Blockchain Announces Late Filing of Annual Financial Statements
9:11 pm ET July 29, 2021 (Accesswire)
This news release constitutes a "designated news release" for the purposes of the Company's prospectus supplement dated February 2, 2021 to its short form base shelf prospectus dated January 27, 2021
VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / July 29, 2021 / HIVE Blockchain Technologies Ltd. (TSXV:HIVE)(NASDAQ:HVBT)(FSE:HBF) (the " Company " or " HIVE ") announces that as a result of delays in the completion of its audit, the Company will be unable to file its financial statements and accompanying management's discussion and analysis for the financial year ended March 31, 2021 (collectively, the " Annual Filings ") by July 29, 2021, being the date that such filings are due under applicable Canadian securities law requirements. The late filing is the result of operational and reporting challenges associated with the consolidation of the 5 countries that the Company operates in: Sweden, Canada, Switzerland, Bermuda, and Iceland.
Maintaining operations in so many different jurisdictions allows us to diversify our holdings, and access low-cost green power in stable areas. However, it also brings reporting complications, as each country has its own unique requirements. To address these, we are streamlining financial processes to facilitate faster auditing and reporting. In addition, earlier this year we exited Norway, and in the past 18 months have bought two data center operations in New Brunswick and Lachute, Canada, which are familiar jurisdictions to our financial team.
Other factors contributing to the reporting delay include unexpected accounting and logistical delays associated with the previously announced Sweden GPU facility upgrade process, and in obtaining financial reporting and analysis from the Company's wholly-owned subsidiaries in Sweden, which have recently undergone a corporate reorganization to simplify our operating structure moving forward. We believe this new corporate structure in Sweden will resolve these reporting delays and benefit shareholders overall, with certain tax benefits expected.
I am in along with RIOT.
Found this response: "We believe this new corporate structure in Sweden will resolve these reporting delays and benefit shareholders overall, with certain tax benefits expected."
Yes a lot of CEO's suck, but the company can still thrive.
Ok I will check further. Thanks
I have RIOT and this looks good too.
Thinking of going in. I have RIOT.
Nice blend of small cap energy plays.
I agree and the regulation talk and the fact that it has held it's own and more is good for the future IMO.
Let's see what happens. It appears good.
Yeah back to $30
So far I like the holdings. Nice upwards movement when bitcoin goes up and reduced down movement compared to say MARA, or RIOT. A bit safer, but yet still in bitcoin.
I will stay with it for the time being.
I just got in with a small amount.
Yes I agree
I am out now but good luck
Yeah funny that the charts start around 1978 and at that time I was the owner of a dental lab and went into business that same year and started buying silver bars back then and looking at the charts it was at it's low. But I never kept them bars. LOL
