1 down and 49 states to go - although 25 would be a much better legal age for handgun and semiautomatic purchases
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-york-set-to-raise-age-to-buy-own-semi-automatic-rifles/
GM Al, I agree, I think single person shooter video games helps push some of these kids over the edge.
But in the meantime, let's make it a lot tougher for them to carry out their "going out in a blaze of infamy" fantasies.
GM Al, Do you know they now make semi auto shotguns?
Yes. But can you hide them in your pants pocket ?
And if they are used in mass shootings that occur every week we can debate their use when that happens.
Lets take care of the current epidemic problem now - which is young people - like 15 to 25 year olds, killing themselves and other people with hand gun.
Hi arizona1, Just show the bodies of the dead kids with their brains all over the walls.
If Sandy Hook didnt change their minds, nothing will. But there's already an age limit for purchasing guns. So raising it just for hand guns and AR-15 like weapons doesnt create a new "infringement" law.
They current suggestions being floated - background checks, magazine sizes - wont make any difference in preventing so many gun deaths. And banning semi-automatics for all Americans is ridiculous and unconstitutional. And remember, there are plenty of other gun deaths besides school shootings. Again, most of them committed by young men.
Hi bbotcs, yup, there's a reason you have to be 25 to rent a car.
By the way, did U know that Williams and Malvo had turned their sights (figuratively speaking, thankfully) to schools?
I didnt know that. I thought the plan was to randomly kill several people, and then kill his ex-wife.
Here's a fun fact: I played a small indirect role in catching them. My fingerprint matching project was used to identify who they were. How about that ?
An 18-year-old male should never be allowed to purchase the weapon he used.
Hi bbotcs, I totally agree. In fact I wrote letters to all my Maryland representatives asking them to introduce legislation to make the legal age to purchase handguns and semi-automatics to 25.
I'm not as concerned about rifles and shotguns - and if just limited to their mass murder of choice weapons, it doesnt "infringe" on their right to bear arms.
Hi Ayock, yup it's true .... white men didn't universally get the right to vote in the US until the mid 1820s.
Also by that time the Abolitionist Movement went into high gear, something that "the media" doesnt seem to ever mention.

Hi getmoreshares, I'm just saying that "harvesting" isn't something only the Democrats are capable of doing. The key takeaway of 2000 mules is that the QAnon conspiracy theory narrative no longer includes claims of massive fraud. You know, cuz those claims have been disproven. So now they're left with sketchy claims that people maybe dropped off valid mail-in ballots for other people. Da Horror !! lol
How'd that Arizona audit go ? Ohhhhhh righttttttt, the right wing led recount actually gave Biden more votes than what were counted in Nov 2020. lol
hi Al, Maybe those "harvested" votes were for Trump and he actually lost those states by WAY MORE than the official vote count. :)
Hi Gmenfan, even student belong to one or more races. This site should clarify which race most of the students in the article belong to.
https://www.dcschoolreportcard.org/schools/1-0458
I suspect the reason why ALL students are forbidden from entering the kitchen is if you try to deal with it, sooner or later, thanks to modern technology and social justice activism, a video will be published suggesting the business owners are racists guilty of using excessive force on who the community will go on TV and say are basically "good kids".
So an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Racist or not racist ?
Union Kitchen posts sign on door banning students from entering; citing stealing, violence
You read that right - stealing and violence. At a place that allows neighborhood people to make food for sale without having to have their own industrial kitchen.

GM Al, you'll be happy to know that there WERE attempts to break the voting machines in Michigan ....
by the Election was Stolen Trump supporters .... after the votes had been counted.
Michigan State Police seizes voting machine as it expands investigation into potential breaches tied to 2020 election
https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/05/politics/michigan-expands-investigation-voting-machine-breaches/index.html
Hi Al, Does 2000 Mules come with a fact check/debunked pamphlet when you enter the theater ?
Here's something we all know to be true:
Shawn continued by explaining that “every ballot, they say, is matched to a voter and then they double check it and they confirm. They say you just can’t simply get hundreds of thousands of fake ballots or signed ballots somehow into the system.”
https://factcheck.thedispatch.com/p/fact-check-explaining-the-claims?s=r
Remind me again how that Arizona audit turned out ?
There's a dirty little secret the social justice activists don't want to say about "male dominated" silicon valley.
It isn't and hasn't been for at least a decade.
Asians and people from India represent 5% of our population, but represent 25% of high tech employees. People of European heritage are 60% of our population but are only 50% of high tech employees.
And if social justice activists took the time to watch CNBC, they'd see many women and many people of Asian heritage in company leadership positions.
But the need for social justice activists to blame People of European heritage for the cause of all their problems is strong. But at least it helps explain why people of Asian heritage don't fully prescribe to the BLM and social justice activist cause.
GM Al, Nope. And I'm not planning on watching this movie either: https://www.newsweek.com/sidney-powell-claims-all-votes-go-secret-server-so-people-can-manipulate-them-1637840
I would think the so-called Arizona audit would have ended this false narrative once and for all. But apparently if someone REALLY REALLY wants to believe something ..... lol
https://www.newsweek.com/arizona-audit-results-donald-trump-lost-joe-biden-bigger-margin-1632304
Hey Al, thanks. Every now and then the conspiracy theory makes sense. What a great way to get the democratic base - and 80% of all women - fired up for an election that is fast approaching. Even I thought the bombshell revelation seemed suspicious.
As for the "Election was Stolen" nonsense - so now the narrative has changed from voter machine / ballot counter fraud to "harvesting/trafficking". You know as well as I do when the narrative/grievance changes, its a sign of grasping at straws.
Basically the conspiracy theorist sore losers are upset the democrats did a better job of getting out the vote than the republicans, so now they're claiming it was due to some mystical harvesting/trafficking activity.
In conclusion - Trump lost - cuz a LOT of people hate the guys guts.
Now compare the previous story about hard work to this one:
Apple's Back to Work Policy Considered Racist
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/other/apple-staff-claim-forcing-them-back-to-the-office-is-racist/ar-AAWMHSF
See the difference ?
Dear social justice activists: Here's a story for you I just saw on CNBC last night.
Sahra Nguyen is the daughter of Vietnamese immigrants who left Vietnam in the 70s or 80s - pretty much with nothing. And yet Sahra somehow managed to get an education and start a coffee business.
https://nguyencoffeesupply.com/blogs/news/meet-the-founder-recap
Maybe the social justice activists should find out how she did it and use this as a model for the people they claim they want to help.
Regarding Columbus -- he's a guy who discovered the Americas for western Europe -- purely by accident. I think he deserves some recognition for that but I think honoring him for it got way out of hand.
But the social justice hatred of him makes even less sense. Columbus isnt responsible for native american genocide - he was pretty much always (wrongly) convinced that he was in a group of islands east of the asian continent - to the point where the term "east indies" for the Caribbean stuck for a long time.
So to try to erase him from history is sooooo misguided. Like so much of the current social justice movement.
Hi arizona1, I agree the current system needs to change. I agree it should be free for the vast majority of degree programs (but not all). But the way it should be free is for students to be reimbursed once they get their degree. Free college education has been tried before and it resulted in a class of perma-students who took up all the classroom space and prevented deserving kids from being students. So get your degree, and get your tuition back.
And in the meantime - like you said, the student loans should be zero or near zero interest. The 7% - 8% I believe is being charged is a disgrace.
I also think the government should PAY students for hard to get in demand degrees such as engineering and pre-med sciences. I mean, if we pay college kids to play sports for their college teams, why not pay students who are spending 60+ hours per week studying ?
And even with all that GOP voter fraud, they didnt win "Red State" Arizona.
Hi bbotcs, I have always said that the only thing standing between a civilized society and anarchy are the law enforcement employees.
Perhaps.
Personally I think the only thing standing between a civilized society and anarchy is the truth and the ability to reason and compromise. Law enforcement should be a tiny aspect of our society if the vast majority of us are law abiding and reasonable.
In my opinion, our country is splitting apart because 1) our leaders and institutions lie to us - in a way that spawns anger, and too many people believe the lies. The media, starting with Fox News has realized that angry people are viewing people, so now to stay in business, all cable news channels feed that anger on a daily bsis; and
2) the horrific income inequality in this country, thanks to technology/automation and globalization which I personally think is the root cause of all of our problems.
Technology and financial engineering continues to increasingly prevent rural "red state America" from participating in the American dream. Their kids go off to college, get jobs in blue state America, leaving these small towns and their way of life slowly die. Desperate people look for a savior to save them. This go round, they've latched on to Trump as that savior. And of course, blind loyalty to their savior is mandatory, no matter what he says or does.
Hi bbotcs, the video in the link shows the race of the attackers. But yes other than describing the age of the kids in the group, any other description was not mentioned. Although the reference to Roxbury was a hint.
The point of my posts on this subject is this: The injustice african americans experience doesnt happen in a vacuum. My post about crime in Minneapolis makes it clear that african american men are 16 times more likely to commit violent crimes than white Minneapolis men. So what demographic group are the Minneapolis police gonna mistreat ? Hmmmmmm I wonder. Is it fair ? Of course not. But there's a way to fix it, but that would involve fixing the root cause of it all.
And in this Boston story, the Police basically say they cant stop them. What they dont say is that there's a big downside if they tried. Cuz you can see that to arrest them, the police would have to use force. And with people videoing the apprehensions ..... well ...... who's gonna be accused of using excessive force ?
Racist or not racist ?
Juveniles accused in city attacks involved in violent attack on Boston Common
Police said they are part of the group that also attacked a 20-year-old in Downtown Crossing and harassed people at the McDonald’s in Roxbury. A police report said the 11-year-old girl "began punching (the victim) and knocked her glasses off of her face. She then stepped on the glasses before punching again." Police said the same group threw rocks and bottles at customers at a McDonald's in Roxbury on Sunday.

Racist or not racist ?
Much of this killing is the result of gun violence in Minneapolis. 503 people have been struck by gunfire in the city so far this year, according to the Public Health and Safety Committee, which also reports that 83% of shooting victims in the city have been black. The majority of shooters are also black, according to Police Chief Medaria Arradondo.
“85% of people who are perpetrating those crimes [shootings] look like us,” he said, speaking at a local church Saturday. “The biggest threat to public safety in our city, specifically the African-American community, it ain’t somebody who’s wearing this uniform,” he added, pointing to his own police gear.
Note: Although only 20% of Minneapolis's population is African American, they commit 85% of the shootings.

Hi bbotcs, thanks. Right now there are very few cases in Mont. Co. so I probably wont mask up (although I keep one in my car just in case). If the cases and more important to me - hospitalization head up past 300 in Maryland, yeah I'll definitely reconsider.
Hi bbotcs, good comment and observation. I got boosted in Dec when Omicron spiked but havent bothered to get re-boosted since the current variant seems less severe than cold/flu to vaccinated people.
At Christmas my son tested positive for Omicron, he had cold symptoms for three - five days, and neither my wife or I came down with it - and we spent Christmas day with him.
Hi Al, the science didn't change, what changed was ....
1) 80+% of the population has been vaccinated
2) a large percentage of the unvaccinated population got immunity "the old fashioned" way
3) the last 2 predominant variants are far less deadly
4) Proven post-infection medications are becoming available
The good old days Al,
when the biggest thing to worry about schools was your kids grades and them finding out if santa claus was real
when dressing up like Michael Jackson or Diana Ross was no big deal cuz clearly it means we admired them
when we all agreed that Russia and China are our biggest enemies
My heart goes out to the tens of thousands of people who DIED because of the people who refused to agree to taking a simple precaution like wearing masks.
You know, Maryland has very low case/hospitalization/death numbers per 100,000 people for a reason. I wonder what that reason could possibly be ?
As well as Fox, OAN, and Newsmax.
GM Al, we live in a world where discussing the existence of Santa Clause with K - 3rd Graders is taboo, but trying to make discussing sex with them taboo is something to fight over. lol.
It's tough to campaign if you're spending most of your time defending yourself in court.
Hi bbotcs, at the moment all my donations are going to Ukrainian refugee relief. UNICEF, World Central Kitchen, etc.
Hi Arizona1, let's go even further back than that. John Cleese jokes that Italy owes Britain reparations for what the Romans did to the Britains 2000 years ago.
What's heartbreaking is this behavior of one group of people to another is happening in the Ukraine TODAY.
Hi bbotcs, correct, Al and I were refering to native americans. And yes diseases like smallpox did a lot of the damage.
In the case of canadian native americans, the british and then the canadians made practicing their native culture or speaking their native languages illegal. Which if there hadnt been pockets of resistance, would have effectively wiped out their existence.
Marjorie Taylor Greene testifies at hearing over whether she should be disqualified from running for reelection
Andrew Celli, lawyer for the challengers, asked her, "Did you like a post that said, 'it's quicker that a bullet to the head would be a quicker way to remove Nancy Pelosi from the role of Speaker?' " A CNN review in 2021 of hundreds of posts and comments from Greene's Facebook page showed she repeatedly indicated support for executing prominent Democratic politicians
Greene also testified that she believes President Joe Biden lost the election to Trump.
She then proceeded to run around the courtroom screaming "I'm Kookoo for Cocoa Puffs !"
https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/22/politics/marjorie-taylor-greene-disqualification/index.html
https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/04/politics/kfile-marjorie-taylor-greene-history-of-conspiracies/index.html
We were far better at genocide with the American Indians than Hitler
So true.
Along with the Spanish and Portuguese treatment of central and south american natives and the very overlooked mistreatment of native north americans by the british and then by the canadians.
Hi Arizona1, I saw nothing in the CNN article you posted that says slavery of African Americans wont be taught as part of American history.
All it says is that making sure what is taught wont make students feel guilty about our history.
There's a big difference.
And if it helps, "the Media" is trying its hardest to make all white people feel guilty about 19th century slave ownership - even Europeans who immigrated here after the 1860s - so whether kids learn about it in school or not, they are bombarded by the fact that .... thanks to the British, our southern states economies became intrenched in slave ownership.
Hi Ayock, students are taught about slavery. They are taught about the civil war, and they are taught about the civil rights movement.
What you posted is the social activist equivalent of "the election was stolen". And I'm sure plenty of social activists believe it.
