Noticed 2 blocks printed at 4:10 for 1.04 million shares and another for 1.965 million at 8.25.
What on earth happened on the close. CVRR soars, ALDW plummets and volume is massive. I did see an article today talking about Delek and ALJ, but surely these events can't be coincidental. Very strange and not much love for the home team stock so hopefully there's not a transaction where ALDW gets the short stick. Next week will be interesting!
Let's see where it finishes the day. Volume is quite heavy already -looking like it will be the most since June.
Sell side beginning to tweak price targets up in September (GS, Citi) so we probably did bottom in July. Kudos to them as that's only about 6-8 weeks late - better timing than usual :)
Nice day for CVRR. I'm waiting for ALDW to trade up alongside it in sympathy.
Stock price warmed up nicely on Friday and given 3x normal volume I wonder if we hit new 52 week high shortly
There was an announcement yesterday that Delek had agreed to sell retail related assets of Mapco to the US unit of Compania De Petroleus De Chile for $535mm. The release went on to quote Delek's CEO saying "this flexibility can be used to support Delek Logistics Partners as it explores growth opportunities as well as continuing to evaluate strategic opportunities to create long term value for shareholders".
ALJ is up another 2% today on more normal volume. Steve Cohen (ex SAC Capital) filed earlier this summer, having increases ALJ stake above 5%.
How it all impacts ALDW I'm not quite sure.
I noticed ALJ was also up 8.5% on the heaviest volume in 18 months.
looks like about 100k shares just traded in the last few minutes
now 8.6% go, go, go!
Just hit $12. Gaining some momentum. Not sure if $0.40-0.50 is doable this quarter but it sure opens up sizable PPS growth opportunity if the yield crowd starts factoring in $1.50-2.00 annualized payouts on a $12 stock. Onward march!
I like the six-month chart on this stock. I'd almost forgotten we haven't traded at these levels since April!
Now for the steady march up into the upper teens please :)
I'm on the East Coast and spend a fair amount of the winter in Vermont.
Somebody was definitely interested in picking up that distribution before it goes ex div. lots of volume in last 15 minutes.
Thanks Jugs. Patience has been rewarded in some of the other yield names I own (BDCs, STWD, REITs, Infrastructure) and I'm perfectly content collecting my ALDW distribution in the meantime while I wait for its fortunes to turn also. 20-25 cents next quarter means I'm using the distribution upgrading for new skis this season :)
Average distribution (including some zeros along the way) since 2013 is 0.56 according to NASDAQ site. May 2013 was a whopping 1.48. I guess the landscape has changed significantly so not sure if it's a relevant comparison (though I'd love to see it). Clearly that kind of distribution would bring the Yield crowd back into this name. Do you guys see that reasonably happening over the next few quarters or do we remain in the 10-20 cent range?
I thought market reaction was a bit unfair this morning. 14 cents translates to annualized 6.4% distribution with a prevailing view that it should nicely tick up further next quarter. I'm satisfied. Guess there are a number of other factors to consider in terms of "investor sentiment", oil being one of them with it falling back into bear market territory (regardless of real actual impact it weighs on investor views).
Bordering on brutal today
Hard to get excited about $5k in transactions but it's something to grasp onto I agree. There's no reason this stock should be the most boring holding in my portfolio (which includes utilities). Hope we can build on it next week. Good luck
Would be nice if they could provide an update - been awhile. They are still in business, right? :)
Wow, largest volume day in years, 2012 if the graph I viewed was correct. I know some of you have some sizable positions but there's a much largest fish in the pond than all of us combined.
I've noticed this trend the last few days where we seem to be heading to new highs and then sell off 20-25 cents. But then recover each time. The action on the close was absurd though. I am quite excited about next week.
Today is highest volume day since March 18 (eclipsing last Friday which was next highest). For those who watch charts it's also the first time we've been above 50-day MA since December
Nice movement today in the stock. I like seeing "double digits". Hopefully it's the start of a large new uptrend.
I hadn't contemplated a distribution anywhere near that high for the quarter - sure wouldn't complain if we realize it though! One thing I've observed recently is that other companies with correlation to oil (whether it be MLP pipelines, shipping, BDCs with small exposure to energy, etc) have been trading well. Seems intuitive that same investor sentiment should spill over into this name.
Stock trading relatively weak still. Under my strict position sizing limit I have a few hundred additional units I'd consider buying which would bring me to an even 2000. But think I'll hold out for sub-$9. And if we don't get there no big deal. I have seen some articles/discussion on continued pressure on crack spreads, not sure if that's what driving sentiment.
Some of the positions built up from members of this board are impressive. Good luck to all!
I don't understand why this don't file. Is it simply because they can't afford it?
What interested me was the comment that they felt comfortable about a distribution next quarter. Even if it only makes it back to 8 cents that's nearly a 3.5% distribution annualized while you wait for recovery. I definitely didn't pick the low today but feeling good about it with the afternoon surge. Makes the overall cost basis look much better :)
I was actually hoping for a dip this morning but it didn't occur. In any event I've added at a level which should provide a nice yield even with modest distributions next quarter.
Your posts are much appreciated. I've had the pleasure of riding ALDW up, then down 50%, then doubling and now back to current levels. Guess I could improve my trading but am learning. Small unrealized loss at this point excluding some really fat distributions last year. Kind of hoping we break down into 9's.
People might consider it fortunate if it "only falls to upper 13's" tomorrow. Not much detail on distribution tonight but it appears "light"
Other item in 8k is issuance of convertible securities for 36k in legal services. I hate to see penny stocks head down that road as dilution can mount quickly. Convertible at 4 cents - yuck.
Are we really bid 2 cents this morning? I guess I just didn't expect that money and shares given to C Brook Ventures advisory would be to facilitate a take-under.
I was looking to celebrate the 136% gain today until the last trade ended us flat. Now that's some intra-day volatility :)
Wish I shared your enthusiasm but it's tough at 6.1 cents. Let's see what comes together over the next several months but as of right now VODG is looking like a prime candidate for tax loss selling.
I don't see selling volume as a problem. 22k shares traded today, the other day 25k shares, in between multiple days of zero. That's what, about $7000 or so in dollar volume. Problem is complete lack of buying interest, I have water utility stocks that are thrilling to watch intraday compared to VODG :)
I thought the press release read well but perhaps not enough for anyone to commit any additional capital.
To your earlier post regarding Shuster, 8-K filed today stating he stepped down from Board effective March 30th.
I think the big buyer took down another 50 shares this morning. I hate to admit it, but this stock is exceedingly dull and there's zero interest beyond a handful of people. News is infrequent so I don't really see where further buying interest comes from.
Seems worth sticking around on the chance things progress but I'm tempering expectations.
Company released a letter to shareholders on Tuesday which is fairly extensive.
Can't the mention of providing product to a "major pharmaceutical company" get the stock to at least a quarter? This stock is brutal to watch, must learn to check the quotes less frequently.
Now we have some big size on the bid, although it's at six cents!
Can we please flush out the seller today?
I think we'll get our answer tomorrow about the culprit for the stock drop.
- Musick sold 5,000 shares at 14 cents on the 23rd. Who on earth with 5m shares puts in a transaction for $700. In all likelihood it was a much bigger order and they only got off 5,000 shares at limit price. He comes back today and tells the broker to just "get it done". Brilliant.
- He did the trade right after earnings release so he wasn't restricted, that's obviously not coincidence.
- Form 4 tomorrow I'm wiling to bet shows 100k or so sold by the CEO. In that case somebody might want to have a chat with him about how liquidity works. You just tanked your stock 40%+.
And of course to any future investors will keep in mind that the CEO still directly and indirectly controls 5m shares, and is apparently willing to put in market orders to monetize that investment. I get the fact he probably has all his "wealth" tied up in the stock and may need to pay the bills, but surely there's a more sophisticated way to go about it? Especially when it's nearly impossible to line up people to actually invest in the company.
Of course I may be entirely wrong but I don't think so. There was nothing in the 10Q that caused me alarm or anyone else.
Such is the world of penny stocks, and probably not an impressive day for the company.
