Netflix enters Fatigue Monitor Market
http://www.businessinsider.com/netflix-socks-turn-off-the-show-when-you-fall-asleep-2015-12
Depending on your company's firewall software, the firewall may be using a cloud database of blacklisted URL or IP addresses to screen and block access to websites. The curaegis.com domain name was just properly "aliased" to the www.curaegis.com URL yesterday morning by Envative so that the two URLs now share the correct IP address. It's possible the cloud database used by your company's firewall has not yet been updated with the correct IP address for the curaegis.com domain name. It depends on how often the database is updated. For example I just initiated an update for the following domain name analyzer database:
http://domainsono.com/domain/curaegis.com
It could not find a valid IP address or give current info for curaegis.com until I clicked on the webpage's "Update" button.
You may have to wait some time to allow the cloud database to be updated with the new curaegis.com info. Talk to your IT department and find out the name of the firewall software being used and how the URL blacklist is being managed.
Cornbread, check if curaegis.com is still blocked now...
I notified Envative Web Mobile Design of Rochester, NY of the fact that http://curaegis.com was not redirecting to the http://www.curaegis.com website. They have fixed this problem and http://curaegis.com now reaches the CurAegis website. Check if your company's firewall is still blocking CurAegis. Envative is the CurAegis website designer for Torvec. See:
http://www.envative.com/
http://www.kentico.com/customers/customer-projects/curaegis-technologies-14235
Note to CurAegis Website Administrator:
There appears to be a problem with the way the curaegis domain name was set up for an Amazon Web Services website. The "alias" for curaegis.com may not have be properly set for www.curaegis.com!!!! This may explain why Cornbread's IT department mishandled the curaegis.com domain IP address. "www." needs to be added to curaegis.com to get the IP address, and adding "www." should NOT be required!!!
If you enter "http://curaegis.com" in your browser search window, there should be an automatic redirect to "http://www.curaegis.com/". This does not happen! You get a "Page can't be displayed" message. You can only reach the website by entering "www.curaegis.com". The the "www." cannot be left out. Entering "torvec.com" will automatically redirect to "http://www.torvec.com" for example.
The following are excerpts from "Getting Started with AWS" which suggest that item "4.-d." was not followed properly:
Step 5: Associate a Domain Name with Your Website Using Amazon Route 53
http://docs.aws.amazon.com/gettingstarted/latest/swh/getting-started-configure-route53.html
"To configure the alias resource record set for your www subdomain"
"4.-d. Click Alias Target. Select your www subdomain website endpoint from the list (for example, www.example.com). Do not select the root domain endpoint (for example, example.com)."
"If you open your www subdomain (such as www.example.com) in your web browser, it redirects to your domain (such as example.com)."
(i.e. either www.example.com or example.com should get you to the website.)
I am pretty sure the folks at Torvec read the postings on this message board. So Mr. Website Administrator - FIX IT!!!
Cornbread, Talk to your Information Technology Department!
Your IT department must be using some service to screen Web Domain Names (e.g. curaegis.com or www.curaegis.com) and block them based on some "blacklist" of problem IP addresses. Curaegis.com, before it became recently active online, temporarily shared the IP address 208.91.197.39 (hosted on servers in the British Virgin Islands) with numerous other newly registered Domain Names. It is likely your IT department is associating curaegis.com with this no longer relevant IP address via a Domain-to-IP conversion service that is using outdated info and is blocking any Domain Name associated with it. This is a problem with your IT department and the Domain-to-IP conversion service they are using and has NOTHING to do with anything Torvec/CurAegis has done to implement their website.
According to http://www.hcidata.info/host2ip.cgi the current IP address and IP server are the following:
Details of www.curaegis.com
Host Name : www.curaegis.com
IP Address : 52.21.174.231
Location : United States
Details of 52.21.174.231
IP Address : 52.21.174.231
Location : United States (95% accuracy)
Host Name : ec2-52-21-174-231.compute-1.amazonaws.com
www.curaegis.com is currently running via Amazon Web Services
http://aws.amazon.com/
There are numerous websites that will convert Domain Names to IP addresses and provide various other info about the Domain. In some cases it makes a big difference whether you enter curaegis.com or www.curaegis.com for the Domain. http://www.whoismind.com/whois/curaegis.com.html still gives the old IP 208.91.197.39 Virgin Islands address. http://whatismyipaddress.com/hostname-ip gives the new correct IP 52.21.174.231 if you enter www.curaegis.com
Some examples:
http://domainsono.com/domain/curaegis.com
http://wsdata.co/2015-06-14/curaegis.com-domain-information.html
http://www.whoismind.com/whois/curaegis.com.html
http://whatismyipaddress.com/hostname-ip
Ask your IT department why they blocked it
http://www.curaegis.com Now Up and Running!
It looks good!

New CurAegis myCADIAN Watch YouTube Video

The executive decision behind the "Watch":
From the October 31, 2014 Rochester Democrat and Chronicle article about the Torvec WAM wristwatch:
http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/money/business/2014/10/31/torvec-wam-sleepy-drivers/18262581/
"The genesis of WAM came from Kaplan teaching at the non-profit Young Entrepreneurs Academy last year, when a student brought up the idea of a 'vibracelet' that keeps the wearer from nodding off in places like class.
'That technology is out there already,' Kaplan said. 'But that notion started me thinking. It just morphed.'
The hardware for the watch already exists. And the company hired a computer engineer to help in developing the software that is key to the device.
And if existing smartwatch technology turns out to have the same hardware functionality as WAM, Kaplan said, Torvec might also offer it as an app."
Ummmm... Shouldn't there have been a business plan to go along with this?
Reality Check: Did Torvec make the right choice?
In 2011, the Fatigue Science Readiband was the first and only consumer scientifically validated sleep monitoring device on the market. If you Google "sleep monitoring device" today you will be overwhelmed by the number of wearable and other forms of consumer sleep monitoring devices. If you select Google "news", the number of news items on the subject just doesn't stop. There are, in fact, so many devices old, new, and coming soon, I dare not even try to summarize them.
I am sure that Fatigue Science is wondering what to do now with all the competition. The Readiband now barely even shows up on the radar of current Google entries. So what will be the fate of "fatigue monitoring devices" within the next few years or even few months??? I have already summed up the current crop of "fatigue monitors". This list will surely grow, and every major brand-name fitness monitor device participant can be expected to have their own version of a "fatigue monitor". Has Torvec/CurAegis already lost this race? How long before the MyCadian Watch will just be another blip on the Web?

Torvec/CurAegis Better Not Fall Asleep At The Wheel
As previously expressed in prior posts, there are already a number of fatigue monitoring devices and technologies in or about to be introduced into the market. With regard to CurAegis fatigue products, the current quarterly report states: "We anticipate the production of alpha prototypes in the fourth quarter of 2015 and customer shipments in the second quarter of 2016."
There is a definite market interest in these safety products, but no one dominates the field, as yet. Caterpillar has made large investments in partnerships with Seeing Machines for a "Driver Safety System" (installation cost $20,000 per vehicle) and with Fatigue Science for the Smartband version of its Readiband wrist-worn sleep monitor device. Lora Cavuoto, Universiy of Buffalo Workplace fatigue researcher, has also partnered with Fatigue Science to use its Readiband in her research towards a FitBit-type of fatigue monitor device. While Fatigue Science devices currently only accumulate data on the wearer's sleep patterns, Fatigue Science could easily add more sensing capability to its wristware with the help of Cavuoto and directly compete with the CurAegis MyCadian Watch.
Torvec/CurAegis MUST keep to its time and production schedule and develop an agressive marketing campaign if it expects to secure a dominant position in this market. No "promises" are acceptable this time around.

From the November 4, 2015 Quarterly Report:
CURA Division: CURA System and MyCadian Watch™
The Company’s CURA division is developing a proprietary technology and suite of products designed to measure, in quantifiable terms, the decrease in a person’s alertness, thus enabling that person, their employers, and others to take measures to avert undesired or disastrous situations. The MyCadian Watch™ is a wearable device consisting of the latest physiological monitoring hardware and proprietary CURA™ (Circadian User Risk Assessment) software intended to detect a degradation of alertness in a user and also reveals sleep and fatigue problems. The CURA™ software will include:
1. unique metrics that will assess an individual’s alertness degradation in task, job performance and sleep,
2. an assessment of an organization’s employee population’s sleep and fatigue problems and
3. the remediation tools directed to an employee while maintaining complete personal confidentiality for the employee.
CurAegis Technologies is presently engaged in clinical testing with a number of sleep study experts and neurologists to assist with the analysis and validation of this new technology. The Company believes a solutions approach can be created to indicate a “degradation of alertness” and thus give immediate and important information to the user and other parties. These degradations can be caused by drowsiness, alcohol or other drugs, sickness, psychological problems and thought distractions. Action taken upon a warning of a change in alertness will lead to a better and safer environment.
The MyCadian Watch™ can alert the user and third parties to let them know their alertness is degrading. This is especially important when an individual’s alertness is essential in properly performing tasks, fulfilling responsibilities and averting disasters. With the information provided from the CURA software analytics, employees can work with Z-Coach, our proprietary sleep training and education solution, to correct sleep issues and improve overall wellness. The MyCadian Watch™ will contain an emergency notification function through the use of a panic button or in sensing a lack of motion, will generate a third party panic notification.
The Company believes that based upon preliminary estimates, the total market for its invention is approximately 700 million users worldwide. We anticipate the production of alpha prototypes in the fourth quarter of 2015 and customer shipments in the second quarter of 2016. The Company has filed for patent protection for its invention.

TORVEC/CurAegis Meets the Competition -
Now that TORVEC/CurAegis is deeply into the workplace fatigue market, the following article provides detailed background info about this developing industry and makes for interesting reading:

Presently, the only current competition in the fatigue sensor market appears to be from Lora Cavuoto, Assistant Professor at the University of Buffalo. The $300,000 grant is for a 3 year study. I would think that TORVEC/CurAegis is currently far ahead of anything Cavuoto can come up with in 3 years:
