Massive H5N1 Bird Flu Die-off in Tuva, Siberia
Recombinomics Commentary
June 27, 2006
The Siberian office of the Russian emergencies ministry Tuesday said the outbreak of the H5N1 strain of bird flu in the constituent Tuva Republic was intensifying.
The emergencies ministry first reported June 23 that 169 dead wild birds had been collected from the Ubsu-Nur Lake in the Ovyursky district of the Tuva Republic, and the presence of H5N1 in their blood samples had been confirmed by the Kemerovo veterinary laboratory.
Tuesday's statement said wild bird deaths were continuing, with 371 new deaths reported by Sunday afternoon. A total 1,622 birds have died since the first were found on the lake June 15.
The above report describes a massive number of H5N1 deaths in Tuva, which is in southern Russia, just to the north of Mongolia. Other reports indicate the number of dead birds is up to 3,339. The size of this outbreak is rivaling the deaths at Qinghai Lake in May, 2005 which topped 5000 dead birds primarily bar head geese. This year there is another outbreak somewhat south of Qinghai Lake near the southern border of Qinghai Province and northern border of Tibet. Over 1000 birds have died including ba headed geese and a number of other species. The recent wild bird meeting in Italy included phylogenetic trees of H5N1 from bar headed geese in China this year, indicating the isolates were most closely related to a crested Grebe from Novosibirsk or whooper swans from Mongolia.
This latest outbreak in Siberia suggests more H5N1 may be spreading worldwide this year. In 2005, there were no H5N1 reported until mid-July. The H5N1 this season may be more complex genetically because the H5N1 from Qinghai Lake on Novosibirsk evolved considerably in Europe as seen by the phylogenetic tree of over 70 isolates.
Thus, 2006 will likely see new sequences and new problems.

Vietnam trials bird flu vaccine production

Special report: Global fight against bird flu
HANOI, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam is producing poultry vaccines against bird flu virus strain H5N1 on a trial basis, Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.
The Veterinary Institute under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has instructed the Central Veterinary Medicine Company to make 200,000 doses of H5N1 vaccines, the agency quoted the institute's director Truong Van Dung as saying.
He said the institute has also researched into how to vaccinate ducks at younger age. If ducks are vaccinated against H5N1 as early as they are just one day old, it would facilitate bird flu prevention.
Vietnam has so far this year vaccinated over 70 million fowls in 57 cities and provinces nationwide, the ministry's Department of Animal Health said, noting that the country plans to complete the first batch of vaccination among 120 million poultry by early June, and conduct the second batch on the same fowls between August and October.
Since early 2006, Vietnam has imported 150 million doses of poultry vaccines against H5N1 from China, the department's director Bui Quang Anh told Xinhua last week, noting that additional 150 million doses will arrive in Vietnam this month.
Vietnam imported 350 million doses of bird flu vaccines from China, and a small amount from a couple of other countries last year, he said.
Vietnam has detected no new outbreaks of bird flu among fowls since the last outbreak was reported in northern Cao Bang province in mid-December 2005. Enditem

And ofcourse there are no cops out there!! people are driving at break neck speeds...well past 100mph!! the night time driving is one heck of an experience..absolutely quite and not a soul in sight!
you will if you are up there where there are no birds!!! LOL.
do you have a Pilot license?? em
yeah, I thought about that...an island like Marlon BRando bought, with all those coconut trees, grass skirts, freedom...........LOL.
back to earth!! I'll just buy a F-150 and a WRX and just enjoy life! make a trip to Brazil, Peru, etc. just for a while!! and then back to work!!!!!
private jet, make it a CESSNA! probably time shared!! away and around the world!
Amazing bid stayed at $1.67 through out the day!
I would not try to interpret (read between the lines) the PR other than taking it on its face value! Certainly, it looked like the results met or beat management's expectations. So the upcoming PRs must have even better news
Man with 10-year erection awarded $400,000
Malfunctioning penile implant is painful and can't be removed
Updated: 5:07 p.m. PT June 23, 2006
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - A former handyman has won more than $400,000 in a lawsuit over a penile implant that gave him a 10-year erection.
Charles "Chick" Lennon, 68, received the steel and plastic implant in 1996, about two years before Viagra went on the market. The Dura-II is designed to allow impotent men to position the penis upward for sex, then lower it.
But Lennon could not position his penis downward. He said he could no longer hug people, ride a bike, swim or wear bathing trunks because of the pain and embarrassment. He has become a recluse and is uncomfortable being around his grandchildren, his lawyer said.
In 2004, a jury awarded him $750,000. A judge called that excessive and reduced it to $400,000. On Friday, the Rhode Island Supreme Court affirmed that award in a ruling that turned on a procedural matter.
"I don't know any man who for any amount of money would want to trade and take my client's life," said Jules D'Alessandro, Lennon's attorney. "He's not a whole person."
A lawyer representing both Dura-II manufacturer Dacomed Corp. and the company's insurer declined to comment. Dacomed maintained that nothing was wrong with the implant.
The implant consists of a series of plastic plates strung together with steel surgical wire, almost like a roll of wrapped coins. Springs press against the plates, creating enough surface tension to simulate an erection, D'Alessandro said.
Lennon cannot get the implant removed because of health problems, including open-heart surgery, his lawyer said. Impotence drugs could not help Lennon even if he were able to have the device taken out, because tissue had be to removed for it to be implanted.
Dacomed was later acquired by a California company whose sales dropped when Viagra was introduced on the market. The company filed for bankruptcy the following year.

I have no doubt, what so ever that, when NNVC applies for INDA for Hivcide, it will get accelerated approval from FDA.
J&J just got rapid approval for their pratease inhibitor which has plenty of side effects.
FDA approves new drug to treat HIV
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060624/ap_on_he_me/hiv_drug
WASHINGTON - A new drug to treat HIV won federal approval Friday. The Food and Drug Administration said it approved Prezista for the treatment of the human immunodeficiency virus. The drug is the first approved HIV medication for its maker, Johnson & Johnson. It's also the first new HIV drug approved since June 22, 2005.
The drug, also known as darunavir, is a member of the protease inhibitor class of drugs. They work by blocking protease, a protein the virus needs to make more copies of itself. Since 1995, FDA has approved 10 other protease inhibitors.
The major side effects of this class of drugs are high cholesterol and blood-sugar levels, as well as lipodystrophy, or the redistribution of body fat. Protease inhibitors typically are taken as part of a cocktail of drugs.
Prezista is meant for use in patients who don't respond to treatment with other antiretroviral drugs, the FDA said.
The risks and benefits of Prezista for adults who haven't previously been treated for HIV and children are unclear, the FDA said.
The FDA approved Prezista to be taken with a low-dose of Norvir, a protease inhibitor made by Abbott Laboratories, in combination with other HIV drugs, the FDA said. Norvir, also called ritonavir, slows the metabolism of Prezista, boosting its effect.
In return for the FDA's accelerated approval of the drug, J&J must conduct follow-up trials to determine the drug's benefits, as well as to study its use in children.
Prezista — taken as two pills, twice daily — will cost $25 a day, according to J&J unit Tibotec Therapeutics.
Apparently the Virus H5N1 went from human to human, from son to father and hence if it happens once it is just a matter of time before 1 becomes a zillion times. Anf further more if it can happen in Indonesia, then the probability of happening in China or India is even more. The transparency in these countries is not all that great and besides, the population clusters are even more dense and far apart!!!
NNVC needs to be on a rapid growth path and they need to announce something tangible soon. Jmo
I could not find it but I saw it in a FD of another company. So until I find the link strike that statement of mine. Sorry.
O.K folks I have done my DD......A/S:1.9billion
(under Delaware law, a company can issue 2Billion shares, max)
O/S : 1.2Billion
O/S fully diluted: 1.5Billion (approx)
So there will be about 400-500million shares that could be additionally issued. But I doubt the company will do it any time soon!!
The comoany cannot do a R/S and then dilute again as that wull be taking the shareholders for a ride and will encourage class action lawsuits!
what's wrong with a R/S, unless of course more dilution takes place!!!
I am not sure how to deal with a Pandemic, should one occur!!! Can't go anywhere but stay put and keep fingers crossed!!! if the economy collapses, then what? If there is no market, then..........????
When a pandemic occurs, being self-quarantined is the best, provided we are stocked with the nanoviricides!!
Either way this ain't fun!!! better to have the fun now!!
WHO: Bird flu virus mutated in Indonesia
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060623/ap_on_he_me/bird_flu
JAKARTA, Indonesia - A World Health Organization investigation showed that the H5N1 virus mutated in an Indonesian family cluster on Sumatra island, but bird flu experts insisted Friday it did not increase the possibility of a human pandemic.
The virus that infected eight members of a family last month — killing seven of them — appears to have slightly mutated in a 10-year-old boy, who is suspected of having passed the virus to his father, the WHO investigative report said.
It is the first evidence of possible human-to-human transmission of the H5N1 virus, said Tim Uyeki, an epidemiologist from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He added that the virus died with the father and did not pass outside the family.
"It stopped. It was dead end at that point," he said, stressing that viruses are always slightly changing and there was no reason to raise alarm bells.
The findings appeared in a report obtained by The Associated Press that was distributed at a closed meeting in Jakarta attended by some of the world's top bird flu experts.
The three-day session that wraps up Friday was convened after Indonesia asked for international help checking the virus, which has killed 39 people there.
Experts fear the virus will mutate into a form that spreads easily among people, potentially starting a pandemic. So far, it remains hard for people to catch, and most human cases have been traced to contact with infected birds.
WHO concluded in its report that human-to-human transmission likely occurred among seven relatives infected with the H5N1 virus in a remote farming village on Sumatra island. An eighth family member who was buried before specimens could be taken is believed to have been infected by poultry, a WHO report said.
Despite the virus' slight mutation in the father and son, Uyeki insisted that an analysis suggested there was "nothing remarkable about these viruses."
Bird flu has killed at least 130 people worldwide since it began ravaging Asian poultry stocks in late 2003.
anybody know the authorized and O/S fully diluted. I am just guessing authorized to be 2Billion shares as that is the maximun for a Delaware company. TIA.
if it does happen, I'll not be surprised! what we are seeing in the PRs is just the tip of the iceberg. hopefully the 10SB will lay out their growth strategy.
I am just thinking that all of these must come together......
1. Coordinated press release with VN. I would think VN would keep WHO in the loop as they get heavy funding from WHO and so far VN has been living up to WHO's expectation in being prepared for the pandemic.
2. NNVC's 10SB...essentially registration of their shares along with their prospectus with audited financials. plus their business plan.
3. their new website touting their technology
The next PR should mention results of Aviflucide-HP and their expanded startegy to being pandemic prepared! Hopefully it will be by end of next week. Then we can all be prepared for the press conference!!! jmh(umble)o.
either the selling must stop or the buying must increase or the blockbuster PR must arrive earlier than expected for the PPS to regain strength!!!
Having said the above, I fully well expect massive news!!! Probably the next PR will announce a Press Conference. The reason I say this......
1. Their new website (got a peek and some of you did too) states that this a revolutionary technology and the Nanoviricides works against (goes after) the Virus independent of the host.
2. Dr. Diwan is registered to give presentations in two Nanotech conferences on Fluicide, Aviflucide and VAiflucide-HP. And finally
3. Todays PR indicated that initial peek into the VN trials data establishes Aviflucide as the leading drug against H5N1. Also they have changed their auditors due to rapid growth! In fact the new auditors have reach throughout USA & Canada as well as on a Worldwide basis.
WieWieWieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! em
laughter's the best medicine!! always! LOL. em
anytime a company does a PP at a deep discount, short sellers punish it!! in fact sharholders punish it too by selling! i can understand why!!! in NNVC's case I thought they had strong backing of preclinical trials which would have enabled them to raise capital at 20% discount. plus future growth prospects. they are not doing this right!! jmo
Besides it is a very risky play i.e selling now and buying back at $1. Supposing you sold 5K at $1.40, then at $1 you would buy back 7K shares but that is under the assumption that it will be at $1 for long! I doubt it! It will pop back to $1.50.
that's about 30% discount to todays market close!! I bet some MMs will also buy in so that they can establish an orderly market on the OTCBB!
PP should be around $1.25. Normally speaking PP for stocks such as NNVC can be gotten at around 20% disocunt to market!jmo
Could be, but why seek PP when they are going after federal funding?? I also heard that they are looking at setting up multiple labs, one on the East and the other on the west coast!
money flow still green. slow stochastics appears to have bottomed! On a positive note....PPS bounced off the 200 dma!
http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=NNVC&p=D&yr=0&mn=6&dy=0&id=p15365205546
yep, people are getting impatient! I believe if they file their audited financials by July 4th, the PPS will hold up!! I hope this is just a bear trap!!
It is just a feeling, but I think NNVC will kick butt soon! I believe MMs are collecting shares for the next run up! I don't know when that'll be, but I think soon.
Here's my reasoning as to why there was no PR.......if Aviflucide-HP was not included, then probably there could have been a PR on just the AViflucide "in vitro" trial results.
But clearly, NNVC has
1. increased the scope of the VN trials to include Aviflucide-HP and
2. Dr. Diwan will be presenting results of these trials in Oct.
I am assuming that they increased the scope because the trial results were good and more importantly the field was experiencing variations in the H5N1 virus.
You may be right about possibly doing in vivo of the Avi and Avi-HP!
you are funny!em
So now we know why there has been nor PR, at least this is my opinion....thye have been working on AviFluCide-HP™, an additonal drug to combat flu. But the good news is the trials ought to be good!!! Waiting for the news!
